Rodeway/Radisson/Quality/Days/Carlisle/Westmont Inn at 10909 M St
As I understand it the Rodeway/Radisson/Quality/Days/Carlisle/Westmont Inn at 10909 M St. is closed as well. The reviews are unbelievable. Back in the day it was a beautiful hotel & the restaurant was outstanding. That was in the 70s & early 80s.

You are correct. The Rodeway Inn had one of Omaha's best Sunday brunches.NovakOmaha wrote:As I understand it the Rodeway/Radisson/Quality/Days/Carlisle/Westmont Inn at 10909 M St. is closed as well. I think all of the new motels going up are forcing the older properties to either invest in extensive remodeling, or simply close.

I was wondering about this place. Drove by last weekend, and it seemed every window was broken out and the drapes were flapping in the breeze. It was a nice looking hotel from the outside.

Apparently they had a small fire in a bathtub today. Found two people inside the hotel too.

It's sad that a suburban property just sits there rotting away. It's surrounded by relatively well kept properties. i can't imagine the neighbors are happy about the situation.

From what I have been told by multiple people in the hospitality industry, no hotel/motel chain will open an urban hotel/motel with less than 4 levels any more. So that rules out these older properties from being reopened.

Indeed. I am sure everyone around there would appreciate it being demolished. I don't remember, was that a pretty good hotel at some point in time?NovakOmaha wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 4:43 pm It's sad that a suburban property just sits there rotting away. Even when new, it was kind of a B team hotel. The white on the corner and the old Sheraton were better back in the 70’s when they were all new.jag42 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 4:45 pmIndeed. In the 70s and 80s when AkSarBen was running that hotel was packed. The restaurant was very good and it had meeting and banquet space for about 400 people. It's too bad it fell so hard. It isn't the only one to die.Coyote wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 8:29 pm Change coming to abandoned hotel 'eyesore' in southwest Omaha

Based on what we are seeing in the market now this appears true.nativeomahan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 10:06 pm From what I have been told by multiple people in the hospitality industry, no hotel/motel chain will open an urban hotel/motel with less than 4 levels any more. There sure have been a lot of Hotel / Motel / Inn conversions into apartments lately. Just of the top of my head we have a short list and that doesn’t even include all of the ones that have been leveled.
This is not really a new trend though if you think about it. Many of the older historic apartments began life as a hotel. When people left the areas served by streetcars, they all went vacant and sat for years before they were converted to apartments. The tide has turned.

This former motel complex has been fenced off and from my quick drive by seems ready for either a massive remodel or demo.

Don't see permits for either demolition or construction. Says it was purchased by "CARLISLE SENIOR LIVING LLC" about a year ago.nativeomahan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 10:34 am This former motel complex has been fenced off and from my quick drive by seems ready for either a massive remodel or demo.

Neighbors want something done with vacant hotel, city council member says project managers have financial problems
Right next to a vacant hotel just south of L Street is an apartment complex. KETV NewsWatch 7 spoke with someone who lives there who said he just wants to see something happen to it. Broken windows and boarded-up doors are now the highlights at what used to be the Westmont Inn and Suites in southwest Omaha. "I'd rather it be a pile of nothing than having to sit and look at that more. So, it's definitely frustrating," said Ryan Gradoville. Gradoville said he has looked out his window at this view for almost seven years.

Seeing stories like this and the 18th & Spencer story, these are the things that should have a full court press of city resources. Not a silly strip mall tenant.

Treasurer's page shows it now has liens on it. Anyone know how long until it would go to auction?Jins123 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 2:36 pmCoyote wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 10:43 pm
