Metropolitan Tower Life Insurance Co. will move its regulatory home to Nebraska as part of a merger with a sister company, a move that likely will bring a new office to the state.
MetLife Inc. of New York City said Friday it is merging its General American Life Insurance Co. into its Metropolitan Tower Life subsidiary, subject to regulatory approval, as part of a review of its U.S. operating companies.
Met Tower Life will locate its regulatory “domicile” to Nebraska, MetLife said, although its headquarters will remain in New York.
The company said it is still working on its plans for Nebraska. Insurance companies moving their domiciles to Nebraska create offices here, some of them with 250 or more white-collar and professional jobs.

Re: Metlife Office
Saw this in the paper this morning. Obviously this doesn't mean they are moving a HQ building here, but maybe it equates to something similar to Pacific Life. A good presence in the city with nearly 450 employees. Metlife is substantially larger than Pacific Life though and ranks #42 on the Fortune 500 with nearly $63 Billion in revenue and 58,000 employees.

In an announcement Tuesday, MetLife said it would add more than 150 jobs over the next several months for the customer service center it expects to open by the end of this year.
The new positions range from entry level to management and would offer opportunities for professional growth, said a MetLife spokesperson. MetLife is a global financial services company that provides insurance, annuities, employee benefits and asset management.

Re: Metlife Office
This is great news to hear for Omaha. Hopefully they will someday have the same presence like Pacific Life which currently has about 450 employees in the city.
