Montclair On Center (132nd and Center)

Post by Finn »

New name, new look on tap for 33-year-old Montclair

It has been stated on here that hopefully all the new shopping centers will spin off some rehabilitation of the older shoppong centers. Good news for aesthetics.

I guess they blew their wad on the Village Pointesqe prairie style structure on the end there. It's an improvement, albeit not on the scale of some of these renovations (I really like the Harvey Oaks center out at 144th).

I'll have to ask one of the owners there what they know about this project. She has a bay close to the Gloria Deo store in Brads pictures. I just keep forgetting to ask when we see each other.

I heard from someone who works in one of those shops that the developers stoped to finish some interrior work before finishing the exterrior. I guess they expected to have a rough winter here in Omaha, so much for that. This rennovation will really help to clean up this area.

I believe Seldin owns both of these locations. Maybe its next? On the west side of 90th Burger king, gas station, putt-putt all gone. Haven't heard exactly what its going to be, but higher end retail seems to be in the cards.

Holy |expletive|, that looks great, I haven't been in that area in quite a while, that renovation has worked wonders.  It gives me hope for all the other 100,000 strip malls in this city that are as bland as this one was before the renovation.

Driving on Center, I noticed they really changed that shopping center's image.  It is way better looking -- way, way better looking.  It was just plain & ugly before -- just like Millard Plaza, and most other suburban Omaha strip malls.  In fact, with all the remodeling going on in Omaha, and the new sharp-looking shopping centers going up, I realize how deeply BLAH that town was around me, while growing up.  Seriously, the sections of town built in the 70's and early 80's have hardly no creativity or color -- until they have began to remodel them.  Looking back, I think: "How did I stand it?"  Yet, growing up in it, you didn't know anything different, or take notice.
I can get pushed out because I'm "too much" for some. Then, an observer of me comes suddenly swooping in to "fill my shoes." People are always more accepting of the new one, because their feathers aren't truly ruffled by them. (Yawn) I can count on it every time.

According to the Grow Omaha Radio Show:

"The Tile Shop" will be opening at Montclair

Also Zio's will be adding a 1400 SQ FT addition.

I checked out the tile shop last weekend.  It was a nice place and they had a lot of selection.  I think their prices seemed decent and they didn't have a bunch of slaes people harrassing you while you looked.  It was a good expierence.

The old Arbor bank is currently being demolished for the new Amigo's that was mentioned in another thread. No dining-room, drive through only.

I’ve said it before, there are members of my family who are (and will) be doing the Snoopy “Happy Dance” over this new Amigo’s location.. As it’s less than one mile from my residence...

Ciao..LiO...Peace

The sign for the “wall-to-wall Hy-Vee wine and spirits” is up. The front door still boarded up. Liquor license notification in the window.
