Perkins gone

Post by w8ing »

I just noticed today that the Perkins near 108th & Maple (back by la quinta if that's even still there) is closed and there's for lease sign there. No idea how long it's been closed. Are there any Perkins left in Omaha?

I tried to go there a few weeks ago also - so it has been at least a month.
There is one in the hotel that is on the SW corner of 108th and L, and I believe one on 72nd north of I-80.

They left a very nice note on the doors thanking their patrons and all.
It had a great I-680 presence - but then you had to go find it.

At least six months. They closed the same time the "new" perkins on 108th and L went 24hours.

That Perkins at 108th and L is fairly new..They contructed it a year or 2 ago..It's a pretty large Perkins with a conference room dining area..

According to their web site, their are only 2 Perkins left in Omaha (S 72nd and 108th & L):

There's also a Perkins in CB, just off the interstate at Lake Manawa.

Whenever you're stuck at the light at 108th & L watch the Perkins' electronic sign. Usually there's a mispelling or two on there that's good for a laugh.

I lived on firkins house in the dorms at ISU. Our house t-shirts ended up being a takeoff.

With the tagline - "The only place you can get some at 2am"

I won't even go into what we did with our lighted sign.

Ha! That's a good one Asten.
Of course, back in the day, I lived on Richey House, and that doesn't even compare to the classic sign (that mysteriously appeared in the middle of the night) 'Firkins Sucks'. Sadly, that didn't last long.

eww, richey. ;) I stole the hot girlfriend of a guy who lived on richey. it was a reward into itself

let's just say ours lit up letters of "Firkins" in a very specific sequence that the women across the courtyard in friley found offensive, once they figured it out.

I had no part in it, though. 'twas built before my time.

I can't remember how long ago it closed, but the old Perkins in the ground floor at the SW corner of 108th & L Best Western has a dumpster and a freight container at that front door. Was all the Perkins furnishings still in there all this time?

That dumpster or another one have been sitting there for at least three weeks. I saw it on my last trip to Rotella''s and that was three Saturday's ago.

I think it closed sometime in 2015
