Rosenblatt shots

Post by AroundOmaha »

Since there is talk of bypassing or even tearing down this wonderful facility, how about your best Rosenblatt shots?!

Might be a bit different from most of the others here, but ...

Thanks for the photos everybody.  It will be missed, it probably has about 2 more series before it's gone.  But that depends on how votes go in the NCAA.

I'm not pissing on a thread. I just happen to have a different artistic vision of Rosenblatt.

Fair enough

Post by AroundOmaha »

I guess the original message didn't say anything about showing its good side. T

o be honest though they seemed a little more like snapshots to highlight issues and the original intent stated "best shots"

But in fairness my original post was a positive bit on the stadium so other opinions are welcome. Thanks for weighing in.

Kevin Costner doesn't need a telephone.  He just writes in the sky.

Chuck Norris is not amused.

About 9 years ago, on October 10, I took about dozen or so aerial photos of Omaha including this one of Rosenblatt Stadium .

Wish I would have had camera, tripod, and time about 5:00 AM this morning.  When I went past Rosenblatt the scoreboard was on and lit as all one color.  No idea why but would guess it was not intentional.  What it created was an interesting look.  There were no other lights other than the normal security lights on at the Blatt and the Scoreboard created an eary illumination of the stadium from 13th street.  The place looked like it was glowing.  A look that you can not get with eh game lights.  That board puts off enough light too that when the other lights are not on it really projects to a wide area.

Cuevas Begins His Long Goodbye

http://www.ketv.com/sports/23121243/detail.html

There is a lot more in the video on that link.
www.ketv.com wrote:I've made my feelings pretty well known. I understand new," said Cuevas, "Both of those stadiums together won't be as good as this one for a lot of reasons".

In addition to the Royals games, Cuevas and his crew have groomed the Rosenblatt turf for high school games, Creighton University baseball, and the College World Series.

"I've got more games here until the CWS than the downtown stadium will probably have in two years." said Cuevas.

Rosenblatt has been a second home to Cuevas. He started working at the stadium in 1969, shagging baseballs during Omaha Royals games.

Maybe it's because I'm coming down off a bender but this sentence does not make any sense to me no matter how many times I reread it.

I think the video makes more sense.  Between Now (last firday) and when the CWS starts in June, there are more events at Rosenblatt than there will be in all of the first two years at TDA park. Referring to the stadium sitting empty most of the year.

Thanks

Driving by there for as many years as I did I just could't place it. Now it is obvious. I think I was too focused on the red roof.

On this day, 9 years ago, 7/25/2012- demolition of Rosenblatt Stadium began..

From today’s W-H-

“Demolition work started at 10:11 a.m. nine years ago today on the 64-year-old Rosenblatt Stadium.

It was a day that Omahans knew had been coming since November 2010, when the last event there — a United Football League game — was played. About 50 spectators showed upon that July day to watch demolition work begin. They stood behind a chain-link fence and felt the ground rumble at 10:14, when the first brick pillar crumbled.”..

The complete W-H story link (which includes accompanying photos of the demolition):

11 years ago today was the final baseball game at Rosenblatt Stadium. Here are a few of the photos I took that night.
