Another west Omaha suburban office construction update... currently under construction or approved ... and there are a bunch of them (one at Westroads has risen to 200,000 sq ft). Add them all up and you'd have a heck of a highrise downtown.

Wow...the first building at 200,000 is actually quite large by itself (and would stand by itself downtown). My office is 7 floors (with 2 floors of underground parking) and about 85,000 square feet however, we are packed into less than 1/4 of a block...just goes to show you how impressive a building can be when you are working with a small footprint.

Yeah, pretty depressing.

That 200 thousand footer is in fact already under construction... between Olsen Dodge and the Westroads Club (apparently, you get free membership while you lease). If you're familiar with the area... it will cover quite a large space.

I hate the current trend in speculative office construction. Are all of these necessary when you could easily consolidate the space into more of a node? It doesn't have to be downtown per se, but at least in an cluster so land use is more effecient like in the edge cities of the DC and Houston metro areas. It's sad to think about what kind of shape some of these "temporary looking" buildings will be in 25 years when the growth has long passed this area by, and all you have is a low-rent, declining building that's not even worth renovating or preserving.

E, you may be more talented than I thought. ;) Either there's a website with all of this on it, or you've got a knack for making connections to get so many of the renderings for these projects. Care to share your methods?

Although not something I live my life by... aka Joe's dcassessor.org .
