Brunettes Bistro (120th Blondo) + 120 Blondes

Brunettes won't let Blondes have all the fun

http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=3 ... d=10455418
NICHOLE AKSAMIT WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER wrote:Brunettes Bistro opened last week in the bay next to the cleverly named 120 Blondes club, northeast of 120th and Blondo Streets.

Executive chef Vicki Swartz said the 44-seat bistro, attached to 120 Blondes via its kitchen, is open for lunch and dinner daily.

A peek at the menu reveals a range of appetizers; soups, salads and sandwiches; pasta, steak, poultry and seafood dishes; and desserts.

Among the more interesting: fried olives; buffalo burgers; duck with white bean cassoulet; ribeye, crab and truffle-blue-cheese fettuccine; and a dessert S'more that involves frozen mousse, warm chocolate ganache and rum-flambéed marshmallows.

"It's urban-casual, worldly cuisine," said Swartz, an Omaha native who said her culinary résumé includes stints at Prestige, Happy Hollow Club, Johnny's Italian Steakhouse and Urban Wine Company. "We take something simple like salmon and turn it around with lavender honey."

"Trendy New Bistro" 120th & Blondo area

Post by OmahaChef »

According to the help wanted ad, a "trendy new bistro" will soon be opening in the 120th & Blondo area. I know that Mac Thompson from Taxi's was working on an idea for a second type of place, so it could be that this is his creation. Usually help wanted ads mean an opening in 3-4 weeks. The ad did not divulge an actual name for the place,

Was it Mac who owned the Neon Goose on 10th St back in the day. I really liked that place but was real disappointed with Taxi's. Took a date there once - who used to own a restaurant - she took one look at the (lunch) menu and couldn't find a single thing interesting enough to stay.

CHEF SWAP AT BRUNETTES BISTRO
Nichole Aksamit of the Omaha World-Herald wrote:New owners purchased Brunettes and its next-door bar, 120 Blondes, this spring, renaming the latter Cunningham's Pub & Grill. Brad Richards, one of the owners, said Jere Jenkins succeeded Swartz as chef. He was executive chef at Vivace when it opened in 1993 and for roughly a decade thereafter.

Vicki Swartz, the former chef, is catering our wedding reception. She is an excellent chef, with great passion and imagination. We were so impressed with her food.

Cunningham's Pub & Grill - Moving
World Group Commercial Real Estate wrote:World Group's Scott Moore represented Cunningham's Pub & Grill in it's lease of 10904 West Dodge Road in Old Mill. The restaurant will be moving from 120th & Blondo. Cunningham's is unique in that half the restaurant is a casual sports bar while the other half is a white-linen-table cloth dining room with award-winning cuisine.

NO!

Will they keep the dual format? Got to say that is a winner. We have my parents come out and they like the quiet area. We meet people for dinner, and they like the sports bar side. Just when we get a good place close, we have it leave.

Went there tonight. Food is as good as ever. The restaurant side is still under construction. The bar side is open. It was extremely loud. A good adjective would be punishingly loud. They said that they are going to put in some sound deadening stuff.

We wont be back till the restaurant side is done in a couple of months.

Went over to Cunningham's to grab a ToGo order of Corn Beef and Cabbage for St Patrick's Day.

I couldn't get through on the phone because they were so busy so I walked in and ordered. One of the employees said they are also taking ToGo orders over email and Facebook message. They had two employees sitting at the bar in the party room, one monitoring the email and the other monitoring Facebook. They said they are also going to start delivery either tomorrow or Thursday to give the employees work during the shut down. They said to check the website when they get it updated for details on delivery.

This is great news. Work right by the Old Mill location and we walk over there all the time. Really enjoy the place.

We used to go to DJs dugout nearby off 114th and one day I put my foot down because I knew for a fact that Cunninghams was better. It truly is too. Food is better. Drink options are better. I also know the family that owns it and they're good people.

I was at the Old Mill Cunningham's for lunch today. I noticed when I walked in, the sign on the door says "Established 2010". Can't believe its been that long. Anyways, it was as good as always.

Looks like Cunningham's has made the decision to not be open on Sunday's, at least for the fall. The statement says that it has to do with he cost of the NFL Sunday Ticket.

In case you were wondering 🤔…we are closed on Sundays this Fall.
It’s a day of rest and we are grateful for it. With the exorbitant price of NFL Sunday ticket we decided to pass. We hope to be top of mind for more than sports and always support local & college teams with our guests.
Thank you for understanding & supporting small business.❤️
