That was the press conference below at the construction site. There were a group of about 10 of us on the convention roof for that long shot.

Before attending the Saturday 3pm performance of the Ringling Brother and Barnum & Bailey Circus,I saw
this model of Omaha Stadium (renamed TD Ameritrade Park Omaha) in Qwest Center Omaha Arena Lobby.

I can not wait until that surcharge is complete and we can finally see some construction.

Yeah most of the surcharge is off now. Crews are working on the outfield (inside and out) MSE (retaining?) walls and also shallow foundations.

Whats this surcharge you speak of?

And for you experts how would you compare the overall height between the Blatt and TD park? Not a big deal I was just wondering. To me after looking at the models the new park will seam a little shorter then the Blatt does.

Surcharges are the big piles of dirt they put on the site to pack down the soil before they build. They very in size depending on the size of the building and the makeup of the soil.

Well, I just learned something new. :)

Looking at the outfield. You can see the field access tunnel position taking shape. Looking towards home plate.

Here's a little closer look at the beginning work on the retaining walls.

Here is a pic of the west side (1st base line side) foundations going in. Steel starts going up in September.

Here is the first steel going up. In person you can see an angle where the seats will be on the top of the field side pieces. This is going to be tall!

I see what you mean Brad. That lift looks so small under that steel structure.

And, by this afternoon, crossbeams are in place, and it looks much more impressive, and the angled support beams for the seating in this section have been installed. It is exciting to actually see it start to take shape.

Nice, thanks for those updates. A lot of my family from out of town is coming for my brothers wedding in Sept, so it'll be good to have noticeable construction going on.

Here's a picture from a week or so ago, and a couple from today, which really give an idea of the scope and scale, and how fast steel is going up!

I coming down the north freeway onto 480 and North DT with the existing buildings, Qwest, Bridge spires, RFP, and new stadium is starting to look rather impressive. There is still a looooooooooooong ways to go but I think we are mostly headed in the right direction, albeit slowly.
