I noticed a building being torn down at the Mid America Plaza. Anyone know what is going on there?

Huh, interesting. I had mentioned these in the sitting empty thread about a year ago and I don't recall anyone having any info at that time. The places are probably full of asbestos or something. Plus they both kinda look like prisons.

I'm curious what's going on here. I saw the rubble yesterday.
These buildings are certainly architectural failures, but significant office structures nonetheless. I would have liked to see them addaptively reused or retrofitted (ala Zorinski Building).
Anyhow, does anyone have any scoop as to what is planned here?

Shouldn't this be in the "Urban" section since it's east of 72nd? :;):

The one on the right would be the southeasternmost one, I'm assuming that's the one Coyote was referring to, although it wouldn't surprise me if they both were coming down since they've been vacant for well over a year. There's one more similar building closer to Mercy Rd but I have no idea if it's vacant as I haven't been down that way for a while.mcarch wrote:Which one? Both? Yeah, those building definitely looked more SUBURBAN. Maybe they should just do-away with the East or West (geographical) of 72nd designation, and focus on the type of development. :yes:Seth wrote:Haha, maybe, but I don't know if we want to claim it.Bosco55David wrote:Shouldn't this be in the "Urban" section since it's east of 72nd? :;):
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"
...and then they were gone.
...and then they were gone.

They have the site completely leveled now and the crane was coming down today on the way to work. My guess is that it will be additional parking.

What if the National Guard is expanding or creating a bigger buffer around their building?
