TD Ameritrade Old Mill Campus

They would be crazy not to go for the bike-related points, given their location right on the trail.

Has anyone heard who the architect is on this project? The OWH did not mention any names, (as usual) which leads me to believe it is not HDR. Maybe Gensler?

You must have bigger cubicles than I'm used to!

As far as TD Ameritrade, I don't see why they wouldn't have at least simple outdoor bike rack, maybe even covered. A true indoor bike storage space would be awesome, though, to keep bikes clean and dry in bad weather.

Looks like they would need to provide racks/storage for 75 bikes and 8 showers, assuming 1500 peak occupants. Here's an excerpt from the LEED 2009 v3 requirements:

SS Credit 4.2: Alternative Transportation—Bicycle Storage and Changing Rooms

1 Point

Intent
To reduce pollution and land development impacts from automobile use.

Requirements

CASE 1. Commercial or Institutional Projects

Provide secure bicycle racks and/or storage within 200 yards of a building entrance for 5% or more of all building
users (measured at peak periods)

Provide shower and changing facilities in the building, or within 200 yards of a building entrance, for 0.5% of fulltime
equivalent (FTE) occupants.

CASE 2. Residential Projects

Provide covered storage facilities for securing bicycles for 15% or more of building occupants.

Potential Technologies & Strategies
Design the building with transportation amenities such as bicycle racks and shower/changing facilities.

This new building is gonna have a huge presence in old mill. its gonna tower over everything! its gonna look great while driving by on 680 or dodge.

Granted, in the long run you will more than make up for it in the decreased Operating Expenses, but still. I'd take whatever freebies I could get if I were going for that...

It was really cool to see this progressing. The more construction projects that get up and running the better. I knew some would complain because if it's not worth building downtown it's not worth building at all. I do not subscribe to that view point (though I do prefer things to go DT as much as possible).

Old CommFed may have 15 floors but it is only 200 feet tall. The new TD building will be 230 feet tall.

Its been several years since I have been to CCC, but can't you cut through the parking lots back by the interstate and get in the back way?

I don't know if they updated the article, or I read it somewhere outside of the World-Herald, but I read that it was the "tallest building west of downtown," which I thought was pretty ignorant. Is "downtown" is anything east of 72nd these days?

I noticed the crane was up again today on the way to work. It was up last week, but then disappeared for a few days, or at least lowered below tree level. It will be nice having a project to watch again from work!

I see they added a camera to the top of the catholic mutual building...it looks as if it's set up high on a pole to oversee the construction of the new TD Ameritrade Building across the street. Does anyone know how to access it, or is it not open (online) to the public?

Its reached maximum height. They took the lifting device off this morning. The height is quite impressive when you are in the area.

This might be a dumb question, but how tall in relation to the crane will the building be? I assume shorter just wondering how much.

Looking at Photos in the Riverfront Place and Aksarben Village threads, I would say a floor or two.

Yeah, I noticed too on my way home from work... this building is going to be smack in the middle of the view headed north on 680 approaching Pacific... should be quite impressive.
