A guest at a La Vista hotel found out Thursday morning that she'd spent the night with an unexpected roommate. A 3-foot-long python. About 6 a.m. Thursday, he said, the woman visited the restroom and discovered the yard-long snake on the toilet lid.

I thought this only happened in their world countries!

Python owner comes forward

A 3-foot-long ball python found on a toilet by a La Vista hotel guest has been reunited with the family of the man who left the reptile behind last month. Mark Langan, Nebraska Humane Society field director, said Friday that the pet’s owner had taken the snake to the Hampton Inn in late March, but lost it inside the hotel. The man panicked and didn’t notify hotel management about the lost snake, Langan said.

Police said a 24-year-old Lincoln man is missing a chunk of his right ear that was bitten off by a woman who didn't like being called "fat."

Police spokeswoman Katie Flood said officers were called to a Lincoln hospital around 3:25 a.m. Wednesday to talk to the injured man. He told them that he'd been bitten at a party.

Flood said officers later learned that the injured man and two others had been arguing with other people at the birthday party.

Flood said the man told 21-year-old Anna Godfrey that she was fat. Officers said Godfrey then tackled the man and took a bite. Flood said the ear chunk was not found.

Godfrey was arrested on suspicion of felony assault and remained in custody Wednesday. Case records don't yet list her attorney's name.

"The sad reality is, whether its a dog or a cat or snake, no matter how much you trust an animal, they react unpredictably in certain situations," Langan said. "Once a snake clamps down like that, they're extremely strong. It would have been very difficult for one person to remove that snake."

Bra causes headache for lawyer visiting Miami jail

An attorney claims she couldn't visit her client at a South Florida detention center because of the undergarment she was wearing. The attorney said an underwire bra set off a metal detector at the Miami Federal Detention Center earlier this month. Guards at the facility then wouldn't let the woman inside.

According to The Miami Herald, the attorney removed the bra in a bathroom and again tried to enter the detention center. This time, guards refused to let her inside because she wasn't wearing a bra.

VICTORVILLE, Calif. - Two women have been arrested following a parents' brawl that interrupted a Southern California kindergarten graduation ceremony, authorities said.

School officials placed Puesta del Sol Elementary in the desert town of Victorville on lockdown Wednesday morning after a fight broke out among a group of parents.

The San Bernardino County sheriff's department says witnesses told deputies several mothers were involved in an argument and it got physical in a field near the ceremony. Several men then jumped into the fray and the incident turned into a brawl.

ANAMOSA, Iowa (AP) — One couple from eastern Iowa has taken their love of bow hunting down the wedding aisle.

The Martelle couple of 61-year-old Marvin Hunter and 42-year-old Kim Silver wore camouflage Saturday as they were married atop a tree stand hunting platform at the Anamosa Bowhunters Archery Club. The bride wore a silk Mossy Oak dress and the groom wore a camouflaged shirt and pants. They blended with the wooded backdrop.

Both bride and groom fired arrows into three-dimensional targets.

Hunter said the couple joked about getting married in a tree stand "and it evolved into this." Silver says the couple hunts so much together that the wedding "just seemed like the right thing to do."

NM man set on fire after losing drinking bet

A 47-year-old man's friends set his prosthetic leg on fire after he lost a drinking bet, causing him to suffer severe burns to his buttocks and lower back. Dona Ana County sheriff's deputies found the man naked on the side of U.S. Route 70 with his prosthetic leg in flames. Deputies learned that the man and his friends were drinking Monday and bet that whoever drank the least would be set on fire. The man told investigators that at six beers, he drank the least, and agreed to let his friends set him on fire.

Nebraska City, Neb. — A 2009 Chrysler van driven by Hilary C. Kirby, 72, of Omaha went over a curb and hit the front door of the downtown gift store “Victorian Heart” located at 715 Central Avenue on July 14. Kirby said she was tending to a monkey in the backseat when she accidentally pressed the gas pedal.

A Chinese airport was closed after this mysterious object was spotted in the sky.
Arcing over Zhejiang's provincial capital Hangzhou, the UFO appeared to glow with an eerie white light and left a bright trail in its wake.
Xiaoshan Airport was closed after the UFO was detected at around 9 pm and dozens of flights had to be diverted.

Carl Herold of Waterloo says he got tired of the "hippie tunes" constantly coming from across the street. The 62-year-old bought an air horn from an old dump truck last week, pointed it at his neighbor's house, connected it to an air compressor for power and started blasting away.

His neighbors called police within minutes. The arresting officer says he heard the horn blasts every few seconds starting about five blocks from the house. He arrested Herold when he refused to stop.

Now Herold faces a disorderly conduct charge. He tells The Associated Press he hasn't decided if he'll fight the arrest.
