Looks like what is going to be a Holiday Inn Express has started their construction on this development. There is a wood framed structure that looks to be a hotel that is starting to take shape to the East ( basically) of the Walmart. First leve is framed in and pre constructed panels are there ready to move on p.

LOL! It still wouldn't change the fact that I don't give a |expletive| about the architecture of a grocery store. An ugly Wal-Mart, with no other factors involved....just the look of the store, would not alone cause my house's value to drop.

Actually it would, as a lot of people do care what the neighborhood they live in looks like. Some care a LOT. That is why homes in Dundee go for premium prices, for example.

I saw it in person this weekend on the drive down to the SAC museum. I wasn't any more impressed.

Has anyone heard the official open date for the Wick's Southpointe Walmart? Still late 2010? It seems that they are further along for such a late opening.

Also any more news on the old tree-farm on 168th & Hwy 370? Lowes? I would be so happy

I haven't seen anything that updates an opening date. The do now have a a now hiring sign up and it has been for a couple of weeks. They have a hiring office across the interstate along 370, or at least that is what another sign indicates when you drive on 370.

Looks like the walmart at Wick's Southpointe will open o Sept 15.
Construction is complete and the store was turned over to Walmart on Aug 9

A personal observation has been that there have been people working in the store for at least 2 shifts / day and 6 days a week for a few weeks and I am guessing since this date. Last night I went by on the interstate and you could see through to the back wall and all the display TV's were on. IT looked different enough from other times driving by that it was noticeable.

I noticed on the way to Lincoln last Sunday that the sign is still not up? That must be Wal-Mart's responsibility then if construction is complete?

must be, or it is a different contractor than the construction contractor. Wounder if there is some logic to not having it up too far in advance of the opening?

I've been wondering when that was finally going to open!! They haven't had any signs up announcing when it was going to open.

I pass there most every day. Lotsa vehicles outside but no sign. I'm sure it will be open soon.

Read up a few posts. It opens on the 15th.

For not being open on a Holiday weekend the parking lot was full of cars (relatively speaking) on Monday , Labor Day. From the looks of it there were plenty of worker bees busy stocking shelves.

For anyone that has been loosing sleep and worried that Walmart forgot to add their signs you can rest easy now. As I went by tonight going home all the traditional signs are up including a Subway sandwich shop sign. Sleep tight tonight!

According to the Sarpy Chamber's face book page, the Southpointe Walmart had a ribbon cutting at 7:30 today.

Yesterday (Tuesday) they started to move earth on the platte of land were there has been a sign of a pending strip development. This is in the area that you pass by as you turn to go to the Hotel or the side entrance to Walmart.
