Having been in both stadium's offices, they are moving from a small, cramped, cave that would make even a slightly claustrophobic person anxious to a bright and beautiful open space.

PAPILLION, NE - Werner Park, home of the Omaha Storm Chasers, will host a public Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, January 22nd from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the club announced Monday. The event will feature free food, prizes, appearances by the Storm Chasers new mascots Stormy and Vortex and the opening of the team's "Storm Front" gift shop and new ticket office.
"We are excited for the opening of the Storm Front and for fans to be able to see Werner Park," said Martie Cordaro, the Storm Chasers Vice President and General Manager. "Ticket packages will also be available for the first time, giving fans a great reason to visit Werner Park."

Fans of all ages will have the opportunity to tour Werner Park, getting their first chance to pick out seats for the upcoming season and view the sightlines from different areas of the ballpark. Guided tours will depart from the Storm Front every 20 minutes, taking fans on a trip through the lower seating bowl and up to the press box and suites. The Storm Chasers will provide free coffee, hot chocolate and Krispy Kreme doughnuts in the morning and grill up Hebrew National hot dogs and serve Pepsi products to fans starting at 11 a.m.

I am sure the timing has everything to do with when non renewal season tickets go on sale every year.

Its also probably to a point where the ballpark is finished enough to being the general public in. I know they are still working this week to get the gift shop done. They probably had to get all the major safety measures finished like hand rails and such.

By the way, if you have not see the new gift shop yet. Its absolutely amazing. You think about the little cave they had at Rosenblatt, the new place is huge, bright, and has lots of cool stuff.

The timing is not that odd. This is the time of year for these type of events. Lots of fan fest (the Cards had theirs already this month, KC"s is this weekend) and ticket holder drives and events. We normally go to KC's Fan Fest, which I highly recommend. Can't make it this year so we are going to the open house on Saturday.

I just talked to Martie out at Warner Park. They were expecting 1200 to 1500 fans today. They were closing in on 5000 when I was there. Great support on a crummy winter day.

I was out there about 1:00 PM. The number of people was incredible. Selling out of things in the gift shop and running out of free hot dogs more than once. I was told they made a grocery store run more than once and wiped out more than one hot dog supply.

It was nice to see all of the Storm Chaser stuff being sold. The guy in front of me in line dropped about $200. I just bought a stocking cap. We had already bought a few items for Xmas at their holiday sale in December.

They also had quite a line where they were selling season tix. Sounds like most of the premium seats are sold for the season.

They had the kids club memberships on for 1/2 price so I signed my kids up for that. Lots of others did as well.

A very very good start in Sarpy for the team.

Glad to hear that the team look to be getting local support, but what about all the other development that was to be going out there??? Restaurants, stores, etc.... Most important in my opinion is the restaurants, but I guess that will help the Storm Chasers concessions.

Last report is that the rest of the development is still TBA. Trenton Magid on GrowOmaha has speculated that it could be a few years away.

Yeah they are thinking the development will take off in closer to 5 years. If the La Vista Outlet Mall is built over the one in Gretna, that will help. It's a very very quick shot between the two areas.

The Storm Chasers are installing the scoreboard this week. I hope its ready for the open house this Saturday (see post above for open house)

I found this on google this afternoon while looking for something else so I am not sure if its real or not. Looks good if it is!

Pretty sure that is shopped.

On their facebook page they had a update saying that the board was going up yesterday and the photo showed it in pieces on the ground. If it is up the images and adds have to be shopped. No way it is powered yet.

Might take 370 home instead of I 80 tonight to see if I can see anything.

Man, that's a weird logo: an angry cyclone/baseball with arms and a baseball bat wedged between his curled lip and his eye. And why does he need to look so scary? Are the minor leagues really that "tough"?

Not sure. I know they put a lot of work in to researching the new name/colors/logo. I am sure they did it right.

Stadium is coming along nicely. I snapped a few photos today, but I have a meeting out there Monday so I will try to get some more.

Took 370 home after work yesterday and around 5PM all the stadium lights were on. The score board looks assembled and in place, and the US and state flags were up and flying. Even in the rain that was coming down it looked like things are getting close.... and they should be.

Family Fest Slated for April 6 (TODAY)

According to the pictures, they have a "bottoms up" beer dispenser. It basically fills the cups up from underneath, which allows for less foam and a quicker pour.

Here is a website that shows how the system works.

That's awesome. Rob was telling me about that a few weeks ago when I was out there, but I didn't understand what he was talking about.
