Just got my email this morning. Selena Gomez (Disney uber-kid for those without children) is having a concert there in August. Good to see alternative uses.

The Sarpy ballpark looks good except for the buildings in left field. They shoulda picked a different finish than the standard metal Morton building, at least on the side facing the field. Other than that, looks good.

I hate this idea. A good beer is supposed to have a head, which you are supposed to drink through. Amazing how something like beer is so popular and yet so few people know how you are supposed to drink it to maximize the flavor and taste.

The beer in the video still has head. I think it prevents what happens at the civic auditorium when you get a beer and its about 1/2 foam (and stale).

Counterpoint; a good beer is not one which will likely be poured using the "bottoms up".

Anyone catch the Weather Channel Broadcast this morning? I caught a few seconds this morning just after 6am, but then left for work. It was one of those "Coming up in a bit tease" so I didn't see them show the park or anything.

Yea it looks REALLY tacky but it is the team "state of the are" gym, locker rooms, practice rooms, and storage. That's what was said during the tour anyway

I have to agree, when I was there a few weeks ago I thought the same thing. I would suggest a nice cast stone face lift on the side facing the field, very bad for the site lines.

The OWH story indicated those were a one-time thing for Autism Awareness. I was kind of wondering how puzzle pieces fit the team until I saw that.

I know I'm going to catch heck for this, but removing 16,000 seats didn't seem to have made the place any more full.

Even the big zoom in one the OWH used looks anemically attended.

Capacity of the permanent seats is around 6500, including the berms its like 9500. I will also say that there were a ton of people walking around checking the place out and not in their seats. Also, soon as the sun started to go down people started leaving because it got cold fast!

6500 was close an accurate number.

I think they have only won one NC in the mid 90's, but they made 3 straight NAIA World Series 06-08 maybe? Around those years.

Bellevue University made it to the NAIA World Series 11 of the last 16 years, winning in 95, coming in second in 97, and 4th in 97, 03, and 07. Over 30 players have made it to MLB. Coach Evans built a strong program - he coached baseball at Prep while I was there. I just noticed that after coaching there for 22 years - he has moved on after compiling a 928-457-1 record.

And even a longer list of violations. He broke about every rule you could possibly break in the wild wild west that is NAIA baseball. Pretty easy to do when your governing board (NAIA) just does not care.

Was not really his choice to move on, more like BU was tired of getting threats from the NAIA for violations from this guy. In 07 he was suspended for most of the season cause his players attended 0 classes.

I'm not faulting Evans either because it's pretty damn easy to get away with this stuff in the NAIA so I guess if you are winning you are winning.

No University of Phoenix is for profit and Bellevue University is a not-for-profit private institution. Univ of Phoenix is also publicly traded on NASDAQ.
