Favoriteplace to eat in Lincoln?

Where is your favorite place to eat in Lincoln?

I remember going to this really good steakhouse once. I forget the name, but they had awesome steaks and prime rib!!

Valentino's pizza was awesome too!

You're probably thinking of either Misty's or the Steakhouse. Most likely Misty's.

Other good places to eat in Lincoln:

Dish (downtown on O and I forget the cross street) - American fare, similar to a scaled-back Flatiron in style, ambiance, and price. I'd consider it fine-dining with training wheels. http://www.dishdowntown.com

Blue Orchid (between 9th and 10th, forget the cross street again) - Thai, couldn't find a URL

The Oven in the Haymarket - http://www.theoven-lincoln.com

Green Gateau on 10th between M & L St. http://www.greengateau.com

Billy's, 13th & H - http://www.billysrestaurant.com

And don't waste your time getting pizza in Lincoln anywhere other than Yia Yia's, 11th and O. Again, couldn't find a website. Best beer selection in Lincoln, as well.

And of course, if you have a time machine, go back four years and try a Jiffy Burger at PO Pears.

There's also a restaurant in the train station that I've meant to try out but haven't gotten it done yet. Someone help me out on that one.

I certainly don't begrudge the manchild his success. Doesn't mean he isn't the worst thing to happen to music in a while.

I'll simply never understand the fascination with Valentino's, either.

The kitchen manager and main cook at PO Pears now manages the Dairy Store on East Campus. Every so often they break out a grill and do a special PO Pears Burger day. As I understand it the lines are long and the burgers are just as you remember them. Have not made it to the Dairy store for this only an ice cream stop that is a Must in Lincoln every once in a while.

From my college days (1995-2000):

PO Pears was awesome.
Loved the Brewsky's on South Street
Best wings were at The Watering Hole.
The was a great little authentic Mexican restaurant next to the Radio Shack downtown, complete with the 13 year old working the register as he was the only family member who spoke English (can't remember the name of it).
And......I LOVED Amigo's at 2:00 in the morning, but not as much the next day.

We were standing in the doorway, about to partake until we saw the menu. It smelled great, looked appropriately snooty, but nothing on the menu at the time (many months ago) really screamed, "hey, we're creative!" and just seemed to have the standard expensive fare so we passed on it. The food may be wonderful though, so I'm definitely open to trying it, just need to realign expectations for a pricey steak place instead of something Boiler Room-esque.

I just skimmed this, but I didn't see anyone mention Bison Witches.

Bison Witches is an unexplainable melding of Deli and Bar around 13th and P st...right next to a coffee shop, the name of which escapes me.

I recommend their pick two deal where you get a half sandwich and a soup. The soup comes in a bread bowl, so if youre not full when youre done, you can eat the bowl. They also had great beer specials, I think wed. night was their pint night where all of their tap beers were $2...including Guinness.

I am in Lincoln once every couple weeks and I try my hardest to eat at Bison Witches every time.

Quite the opposite. But it's still a town of 250K made up significantly of college kids and associated professions.

For what it is the dining scene is surprisingly exceptional, particularly downtown. Just don't expect any Michelin stars or, as Tuna said, Boiler Room-esque dining options.
