She used to be with the Weather Channel. Maybe that's all she did there.

She commented on a Facebook post saying she is typically doing the weather M-F at 4, filling in for others while on vacation and community events.

no kidding. And whatever happened with this entire fiasco, and everyone else involved? was it all just swept under the rub, or was it all a load of |expletive| to begin with?

Maybe the attention span of those who pay attention to those things was exceeded. :)

I think it's obvious that some kind of no-compete agreement expired today. :)

Todd and Tyler interviewed Jim Flowers this morning.

They talk about the Massage Parlor.

First, Todd & Tyler are boring.
Second, calling their "empire" an empire is an affront to empires.
Third, if you have to say "this isn't a kiss up interview" more than zero times, much less more than once, it's a kiss up interview."
Fourth, having seen weather people from other cities who are very good professionals and never go ballistic over a storm a week out, my own opinion is that KMTV hiring Jim Flowers speaks volumes about both of them. Is he working for more than minimum wage? If so, #wasteofmoney

boring, is a matter of opinion. They're syndicated for a reason.

A ) there is a lot of Syndicated stuff out there. It is not necessarly and indication of "good"
B ) I would not say they are boring but they are VERY REPETATIVE. I do not listen often but every time I tune in it is like listining to a best of show where you have heard it all before.

Syndication is based upon ratings, and ratings are based upon listeners. If they consistently pull good ratings, I would say, that by any metric in the radio world, they ARE good.

Again, they are doing something the audience likes. For me, they aren't Bob and Tom, or whatever those dillholes call themselves. They aren't gimmicky, they don't have producers and other "creative" production make them stupid jungles and other fancy |expletive| to pollute the show, they just talk, and say what's on their mind.

If you find it boring, then fine. Everyone has their tastes. But, Im fairly certain their market area is now in the multi-millions, and the show is a proven commodity.

So, is Ryan McPike being demoted? I don't often watch channel 3, but I like his style. He never sensationalizes the weather.

He's not listed as Chief Meteorologist anymore, but neither is Flowers.

I would say showing back up on mornings is a demotion. I prefer McPike to Flowers but they must have some indication that Flowers was or will be more popular. I wonder if such a demotion comes with a pay cut. Anyone have any idea how much these news and weather people get paid in the first place?

Could it be possible the whole genital-masseuse story was fabricated to drum up publicity for him?

Like any weather person, Flowers has his followers. KMTV will lose viewers faithful to McPike if they put Flowers in the lead evening/nightly time slots.

KETV still ranks #1, has been for a long time. If Flowers could not bring #2 WOWT to #1, he will certainly not bring #3 KMTV to #1.

I thought Ron Gerrard was the most accurate out of himself, Randby, and Flowers back when he was on KPTM.

KMTV doesn't seem to have any game plan for what to do with their gaggle of meteorologists. The guy with the bad toupee is now co-anchoring the morning news, and trading small talk with Ryan McPike. Two meteorologists on at the same time on a totally "dead" weather day. I smell a train wreck.

It was totally an awkward mess this morning. I assume they keep the tall guy cause he is better at inane banter with blondie (I cant stand that pair really) so McPike is the odd man out I guess. Maybe he should go to WOWT, Im not a big fan of their Flowers replacement either.

The city has way too many TV meteorologists, especially considering we have what, maybe 20 days a year where the weather is potentially threatening to life or limb. This explains why TV stations over hype the weather. Take last night, for example. Omaha had an hour of nice, moderately heavy rain, with a few wind gusts. No hail. No tornado. No severe anything. And what did the local TV stations do in response to our summer shower? Go nonstop with weather for a couple of hours, each with multiple meteorologists literally tripping over one another's lines, trying to create something out of nothing. (I actually heard Jim Flowers tell CWS fans to take out pen and paper, and write down all the names of the local counties, and then put the paper into their wallets for later reference--even though the forecast for next week is almost constant chamber of commerce dry weather.) It really, truly is embarrassing.

First off the same people that complain about to omuch weather coverage are the same ones that complain if there is not enough coverage when something does happen. (not intended at anyone here)
Second their viewing area is much more than the Omaha metro and many do not see beyone the area that is "home" to them.
Third they are reporting live and things can change and happen quickly so part of what they are doing is adapting on the fly. AMybe something develops and maybe it will not.

Are they / were they overkill... Sure... but I would rather be informed and safer that uniformend. The viewers are turning things on to see what is happeing when there is bad weather or potential for bad weather and if they are not on they will go to the next source that is.

To be fair to them, the storm was shaping to evolve into a bow front. Bow fronts spin up tornados that are usually not EF5's, but can be fast dropping dangerous EF3's and routinely reach EF2 strength. There were stable winds of 40-60 MPH out in Valley (which for some reason seems to get much faster wind speeds than any place in Douglas County, I have spotted for storms that they clock at 85 and we will all get 20 mph or more less.)

Given that the storm front was bowing and there were winds of that speed, I don't blame them for going on like they did. Especially considering the programming they were "interrupting". Their weather probably boosted the national audience numbers for some of those.

If a strong front that was starting to bow as it was crossing the table lands of Saunders County and was on a vector to run right up Dodge popped up and the stations didn't go on alert, letters to the FCC would be in order. They did their job. Good on them.

I think they all recommitted a bit after the Millard tornado a few years ago. While WOW was the worst I recall them all saying they should have been on providing more info. I dont mind it, its not like there arent other channels if you are disinterested and think things are fine.

In reality, with the internet and sites like accuweather, along with a weather radio, there really is no excuse to be uninformed. For whatever reason, locals seem to want non-stop, uninterupted, live coverage as a storm rolls through eastern Nebraska and enters the metro.

Personally, some automated alerts on the bottom of the screen are good, unless a populated area is under imminent threat of a tornado.

On another note, Channel 6 had a live remote from the CWS and featured Dave Weber for a moment. Dave has dropped an awful lot of weight, and seemed to be slurring his words. If I recall he had a stroke a while back. Too bad. He is one of Omaha's TV giants.
