How many people would attend UNO games there and how much could they charge for a ticket? I think it would be a major losing proposition.

I'd go to see UNO play there. They need to do something since no one in D1 will come play at their current home.

Just saw that UNO has scheduled a home soccer game for Werner Park this fall. The Chasers are doing a great job getting more and more events there. I'm hoping UNO baseball plays more games there next season too.

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers and Werner Park wrapped up a successful 2011 season this past Friday night, as the ballpark played host to the University of Nebraska at Omaha men's soccer team in the first non-baseball sporting event at Werner Park. The 1,488 fans in attendance pushed the year's attendance total to 452,841 at a total of 124 events.

Though the September 23 soccer match marked the unofficial end of the year, Werner Park will continue to operate throughout the offseason leading up to the Storm Chasers' Opening Day on Thursday, April 5, 2012. With the ability to host events year-round for the first time, team Vice President and Martie Cordaro was happy with the success of this year's turnout and hopes for even bigger numbers in 2012.

"This has been such a special year at Werner Park, not just for the team, but for the entire community," Cordaro said. "From the ballpark opening with local high school games, to the Storm Chasers' Championship run, to the sold-out Selena Gomez concert, it's really been a dream come true. Now we'll get to work on bringing in 500,000 fans next year."

The Pacific Coast League Champion Omaha Storm Chasers had a wildly successful season on the field, while also bringing in big numbers at the turnstiles. With 410,326 fans attending games on 69 regular season home dates, the Chasers saw the largest total and highest average (5,947) since 2000. It was also the franchise's sixth-straight season of increased attendance, growing the annual fan base by more than 100,000 over the past five years amidst a transition from Rosenblatt Stadium to Werner Park.

Storm Chasers baseball eclipsed the 400,000 threshold for the second-straight year and for the 10th time in the 43-year history of the franchise. It also surpassed the 300,000 plateau for the 24th-straight season.

With a maximum fixed seating capacity of 6,434 at Werner Park, the Storm Chasers met 92.4 percent of the fixed seating capacity for an average game. The team had two "hard" sellouts (9,023) and posted remarkable 27 sellouts in which the total attendance exceeded 6,434. In addition, the team shattered the all-time record 10-straight games of 4,000 or more fans, posting an incredible 26 in a row from June 2 through July 26. Not only that, the Storm Chasers had a stretch of 10-straight sellouts from June 16-July 15, averaging 7,916 fans per game during that 30-day period.

Werner Park would honor Bob Gibson

Per the Werner Park facebook page they are tearing out the "grass" field at the Borsheims Diamond where teh kids can go play ball. Going to be putting in filed turf! GREAT IMPROVEMENT.

This is a good thing. That field got a ton of use last year and was really worn down by August. Looks like they are leveling it out as well, much needed. Can't wait until we can go back there in a few months.

Signal 88 and Werner Park are on A&E right now. Not sure exactly what its about, but something to check security. I missed the beginning.

I believe there is a banquet and ceremony on Thur night and then more activity on Fri night with the home opener to dedicate it.
This is from memory so if someone has ether details weigh in.

The prep work when I was out for their open house was just to the SW of the main entrance. It will be located fairly close to the entrance. I will not e at the Chaser games this weekend but if no one gets a photo I will eat one the first of the week when I can drive by on my way home from work.

There was a story on the news the other night about it. It showed where it was. Its already in place and wrapped up in a tarp.

Werner park added a small secondary scoreboard on the top of the stairs behind the first dugout. They are also advertising a renovated storm front gift shop, although I have not been in there yet to check it out.

The lack of that scoreboard was my biggest issue out there. From some seets it was like watching Tennis if you wanted to track pitch count.

The gift shop has minor renovations unless they hae dome more sine their open house a beer tasting a few weeks ago. More a layout change I believe.

That is all that is needed. Many smaller parks have this on a ribbon score board of some type on the first or third base side.

Finally got around to seeing a game here. Nice little park, it does exactly what they need in a AAA stadium. Also beer is cheeper in KC than in Omaha, that surprised me.

If it isn't that for that flood control lake, I think they are planning on building houses around the lake.

There were signs of activity around the creek to the west/northwest of the stadium, culverts under some elevated roadwork, but the grading was directly to the north. No road works into the area as I could tell. Roads end on Lincoln?

When I was in the helicopter a couple months ago, the were building more roads in to that area. I think there is housing between the lake and Werner Park.

OK, this may be an outdated model (one I saw a Middle School about where the Club House is marked),
but all the area north of Lincoln St. being graded.
Little of the so called Pennant Place seems to be attracting any interest it seems.
So I guess this will be another residential area, from Lincoln to Cornhusker.

And it looks like a parking area will be on Lincoln St. just to the east of the soon to be lake...

The initial location of this seems to be a clever spot now seeing how its growing neighborhoods around it.. pretty soon that area will be pretty well filled in I think. I wonder how long it will take for 370 to be developed all the way out to Gretna.
