It's been awhile now that you mention it that I have seen him doing any TV commercials.

Nice article addressing the rumors about Jim this past winter. Also, a pretty cool picture!

But in the wake of what happened over the winter, he seriously considered moving to another market.

Haha remember a few years back when everyone freaked on him over the bad predictions of the really severe thunderstorms that rolled through * think it might have been the little souix tragedy * anyways.. Him and Bill Randby epitomize local Omaha meteorologists so I'm pleased that he decided to stick around town and goes to show you that social media is the bane of our society these days.

In all fairness, channel 6 and 3 dropped the ball on that particular weather event. So, if that means that Flowers f-'ed up, then he needed to own it, which if I recall, he didn't.

I think his 'admitting' it was that any time the slightest hint of a thunderstorm was even considering thinking about grazing the metro they blasted dooms day thunderstorm coverage until it was out in Iowa somewhere.

WOWT taking partial credit for a bank robbery suspect's arrest. I missed the old days when they would call their website a web channel.

When I see these airheads with their giant, inappropriate smiles grinning ear to ear as they read the news I really, really want to reach through the TV and slap the $hit eating grins off of those plastic faces.

Last night at the 5 or 6 pm news, WOWT had the wrong names under the wrong people for the first few stories I watched.

Only one correction: Those female anchors look a bit better than "moderately" attractive.

Out of curiosity, would this be considered a sort of promotion, or relocation?

Well, leaving the #76 market for the #40 market...I'd say it's a step up. Heck, the Des Moines market is #71

Birmingham is also a pretty town and close to Huntsville. Both being hotbeds for academics with the UAB and UAH there, maybe this allows her time to work on a PhD in meteorology or get closer to family in a nice part of Alabama?

We all got drunk and let Vermont and New Hampshire decide. It was either that, or they were going to draw dongs on Rhode Island.

Maybe I'm alone in thinking this...but I believe KETV is as at an entirely different level of news broadcast/reporting quality than all the other stations. I just get the sense that they're investing far more in staff, seem to have much larger number of field reporters... and I know it's just something the network offers, but I really like the 'local feel' they give when reporting from Washington (even Sochi!).. ie "reporting for KETV from Washington". KETV just has a much bigger city feel than the rest of the local stations. Heck, the investment in renovating the Burlington alone seems unusual for a broadcast TV affiliate in this day and age.

I agree with that. Whenever I watch the other stations I feel like I'm watching something set in a high school classroom.

I do admit that, lately at least, KETV/7 has been the least mediocre of the three. WOWT/6 keeps sounding like they are talking to a moron and has countless factual errors. KMTV/3 is just plain amateurish.

Oh, I said three. I meant four, almost. KPTM/42 is, well, there. Actually, it's not there, it's outsourced hundreds of miles away!

It is Fresno, but yeah the outsourcing just changed locations with the ownership change as far as I'm aware.

Spend any amount of time away from Omaha, and you can quickly see how bad our local broadcasts really are. It isn't "which one is better," it's simply a competition of a lesser degree of suckage.
