I noticed a couple of days ago they started removing the large hill behind the huge ugly retaining wall near the southeast corner of 72nd & Maple. I never realized that hill is much higher even than 71st street to the east. Hopefully they will get rid of most, if not all of the retaining wall. This has been an eyesore since they tore down the Texaco or Phillps gas station on the corner.
Does anyone know if this will still be a CVS? How exciting! Looks like the property is still owned by CVS on the Do CO assessor's GIS site.

Now we just need something on the southwest corner to round-out the intersection. How about another pawn shop or a Walgreens?

Yeah, I wonder what they hit from the city this time to get them to start building here...
How long of a grace period do submitted plans before the city council have before they expire?

I don't think that corner on 72nd & Maple was ever anything but leverage & blackmail material for CVS. They used it to pressure the City into letting them build on 49th & Dodge, and now they're doing nothing with it.

Out of curiosity, who owns this parcel now? It's been sitting empty a very long time. I would love to see a mixed use apartment complex here. To me, this corner is the gateway to Benson. I would put a neon sign on top of the building..."Benson" or "Welcome to Benson".

Looks like CVS still owns it.

Really! I'm surprised they have held onto this for so long. Maybe we could force their hand to sell. Well...it's been over 10 years. We will have to charge our stagnant lot charge! LOL!
I do believe a strong development on this corner with spark interest along 72nd heading Southbound. A lot of dilapidated one-story strip malls that could be dense developments.

I noticed it looks quite a bit more cleaned up recently. Dunno if they did some grading at some point, but if they did, the grasses would say it happened over the summer and I just didn't notice it til now. Crazy CVS has held onto it this long. With a few of them closing, I don't see them building there.
