Value Place coming to Omaha & Lincoln

Post by Ingersoll1978 »

Just thought I'd pass this on. I found an article about Value Place coming to Des Moines and found that Omaha and Lincoln will both have locations by the Fall of 2005.

It's basically an extended stay hotel-apartment complex aimed at the value consumer.

These are the locations:

Put some balconies on it, and it could pass for just about any apartment complex in Omaha also. Looks to me like it will fit in well with it's location. It's actually an interesting concept, from a business standpoint.

So is slavery, but you don't see people rushing toward that concept.
How can you put the concept of this extended stay hotel in the same company as slavery is beyond me.

Yeah, that was probably a bit too offensive, even for me! I'm going to edit that last post.

Yeah, really Linkin5. I thought I was posting something of some degree of intelligence. I still contend that this business plan provides an alternative for a segment of the population, and given the founders background, I suspect he has some experience in creating new business opportunities. Take the time to research the links and you will be amazed to discover this guy created the idea of Residence Inn, etc.

I've had a whole day to think about this thread. Apparently going for severe, insulting shock value is the way to get attention on this site. I found this response highly insulting. Maybe this |expletive| works in SF, but I believe there are those amongst us on this site who would like to engage in an intellectual conversation on the future of Omaha. Comparing slavery to a studio apartment building is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read on a discussion website. I never even mentioned slavery, African Americans, or anything even remotely related. The sole purpose of that response was to be an #@$hole. Excellent job. And you wonder why more people lurk and don't actively participate, or sign up as members?

My kitchen manager is black, and I depend on her for everything. My best kitchen employees are black and I count on them to make things work for me every day and night. How in the heck could you even bring slavery into a conversation about a building????? To quote a few others on this site, WOW????? And you end your "apology" with a smiley face? Tasteless, positively tasteless.

I have heard through the grapevine that the chamber discussion threads fell apart because there was so much negativity. Guess it's not much different here. To get this kind of response to an intelligent comment is just................I can't even get words to express my outrage!!!!!

Okay, swift made a mistake, recognized it, and acted upon it. No lecture necessary.

Omaha World Herald Business Digest wrote: Grand opening set at Value Place

Omaha's new Value Place extended-stay hotel is open and will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting Wednesday at 11 a.m.

The newly constructed hotel is at 6855 S. 118th St.

The project by Vineyard Holdings LLC of Gardner, Kan., is a franchise in the chain launched by Jack DeBoer, who also founded Residence Inn, Summerfield Suites and Candlewood Suites. Value Place offers fully furnished studio apartment living at lower prices than other extended-stay chains.

The southwest Omaha location is the first of more than 35 Value Place properties that Vineyard plans to develop across the country.

I am not sure if that "fancy" sign that they put up on the West side of the building is meant to be read from the interstate but to me it is not readable. My eyes are not perfect but I am not sure how that can be read from the moving traffic. If that is not what was intended I am not sure why you would put that sign up in the location that they did.

The twin building that is up in Lincoln along the interstate is closer overall but the sign is much more readable do to its location. In fact I know know after driving by what they must be trying to say on the one in Omaha and if it is the same it is deffinantly meant for the trafic to see.
