California Pizza Kitchen coming to Omaha
A very good source tells me that the California Pizza Kitchen will be coming to One Pacific Place by this December.

Fom experience, the CPK works best in high traffic areas, like next a movie theater. I think they would do better in the empty Hallmark Store in front of Dicks at Oakview Mall rather than at Pacific Place. Other than CiCi's just opened there, anywhere near the AMC 24 would probably be good for them.
On the other hand, I would love to see an In and Out here in Omaha.

As a general rule, I don't like things with "California" in the title.

Don't get all snotty with me Cowboy, it didn't necessarily have to be from California, take California Taco for instance... that is right here in Omaha, named after a street.Omaha Cowboy wrote:

If it's at One Pacific Place, I'll have another option for where to eat on my lunch breaks. It'll probably go in where Pacific Kitchen and Grill used to be.

Score! I was considerably jealous when I heard that Des Moines would be getting one of these. But now it seems as though there's has been canceled and Omaha will soon have one instead. I've probably only eaten there once as well, but it was quite good.
For those who have never been to a CPK, they also sell frozen pizzas that can be purchased at your local grocery store. I've never tried one though, so I don't know if they would be as good.

Smashing! Good on ya! I've been to ones in Denver, Dallas, and LA, and they are all good. The crust is very good and I like the bread, too. The perfect location for this would be somewhere on California St. downtown!

Yeah, that would fit great in the North Downtown district... but webster would be the preferred location since it is the more active street according to the plans.

The frozen version is pretty good....for frozen pizza. As for California Street, I have a freind who was recently robbed and beated to a pulp walking home from his downtown job to his residence on California Street. I doubt it was on CPK's radar.

I would love to see one of these show up in North Downtown. They need some quality restaurants with the new district. Not too bag on the food at InPlay, but I had a Cheesesteak sandwich there a couple of weeks ago and thought I was going to have a heart attack. How much processed cheese do you really need on a sandwich? It wasn't even provolone, but some kind of processed cheddar or something. I will be excited to see some more restaurants in the area.OmahaChef wrote:The frozen version is pretty good....for frozen pizza. BTW, when the area is developed out, I don't think that you are going to have to worry about getting "beat(en) to a pulp." With all of the population (non-homeless) that will be in the area, (24-7), it should be pretty safe. It may not be on CPK's radar, but it should be.

Since my wife and I moved back to Nebraska (from Pennsylvania, almost 2 years now) the one restaurant that we really missed is California Pizza Kitchen.
I agree with "POTUS" the old Hallmark store in Oakview would have been a better location... CiCI's and CPK are not in the same league.
In fact, I was wishing "Champps Americana" would leave Oakview and that would be perfect for CPK.
We can hardly wait!

Ate at the CPK on the Plaza in KC several times. Great place to eat and really quite unlike any pizza place here in O-town. Great get for Omaha and OPP.
