I think its a pretty safe bet right now that a Cheesecake Factory will be built in Omaha.

Agreed..And if the Cryptic Rumor Dept keeps throwing in enough of these 'bones', we might be able to move this one out of the 'Rumor' section very soon

Any chance that what is being built by the Westroads is what was brought up in this thread? Any other word been heard on Granite City Food And Brewery happening in Omaha?

Hmmm,according to this site there's apparently a lot of new Cheesecake Factories going up. It seems like it's coming to a point where landing one isn't much of a big deal anymore.

Maybe. But to people who don't know there are a lot of new CFs going up (which would likely be most people why don't work for CF or browse eomaha) then it still would be a big thing.

Most of those are either already built or are suburbs of large metropolitan areas which already have one or more locations. They are by no means unique in larger cities today. Even KC has two of them.

The New Chesscake Factory eateries in Tigard (Portland), Or and Fresno, Ca are brand new 'firsts' for both of those markets..So will be Louisville, Durham, NC and Nashville..Along with Omaha..

I still think that that is a lot of expansion for a place with such an exclusive appeal. Having just one location in most large metropolitan areas says something is more exclusive to me than having multiple locations. So it seems to me that that exclusiveness seems to be beginning to run thin. In addition, the city of Fresno landed one. How many redeming qualities are there about the city of Fresno? It's apparently larger than Omaha but it's national importance is more along the lines of Duluth, MN.

They're based in California, I'm sure they feel more comfortable expanding in their backyard (think of it as California's Runza

). The fact remains, Omaha would be among the smallest metros to get one (Des Moines may well be the smallest).

As for exclusivity... I'd suggest everyone support their local offerings. There's nothing more exclusive than them.

You know, 2 weeks ago, I emailed General Growth and asked them if they had any feedback on the potential CF at Westroads..I have yet to receive a response..I don't know if that's good or bad..

I don't believe any tenants have been named for VP's expansion thus far. Maybe RED is looking to pull off a big coup.

So I wanted to see if I could get anything out of Westroads in regards to the construction without specifically mentioning the cheesecake factory. This is the short email I sent and the response that I recieved.

Question: When is the construction on the food court expected to end?

Thanks for bringing this up..You would assume incorrectly..In fact, Jeff Beals, co-host of the Grow Omaha Show, brought up the information I emailed him regarding my Airemasters find (see previous post on page 2 of this thread) and it's contract connection with Cheesecake Factory and the Omaha proposal on its site..Both co-host Trenton Magid and in studio guest David Brown, President of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, thought it was a great find..

Our hope in mentioning this on the show, was to stir the pot and get some additional investigative hands in the cookie jar (Ahem..W-H) in order to get those in the know to finally 'spill the beans' on the CF development in Omaha..

Keep your fingers crossed..Hopefully we'll find out something soon..

According to the W-H, someone was issued a $430,000 building permit for an "interior remodel" at "Westroads Mall".

That's not your ordinary mall store, given the dollar amount.

TGI Friday's has a great bar, and they've been there for years! Move them next to the Cheescake Factory, and we have a party!

There's also PF Changs and Macaroni Grill bars only a few steps away too!

If that would by chance be in the former Younkers spot, that wouldn't be a significant dollar amount per sq foot though.

Technically I'm firmly in the 'support your locals first' camp. Not to be-little this site's Cheesecake Factory obsession, I would say a Calfornia Pizza Kitchen should be about as high on the 'check list' as well. Have any rumors been tossed around about this prospect?

Well I might disagree there! I think the people around here have really done a Gouda job digging up dirt on this project and is one of the most well-known secrets, if you will. Everyone knows about this project that nobody will talk about! Now if there's more to it than the Cheesecake Factory then yeah its been well kept.

Makes you wonder who's been checking up on our rumors. Whomever they are, they just Edam-up! I'm sure the execs at CF are pretty Bleu they've been exposed. Quite frankly its probably getting their Goat (cheese).
