2018 Bald Eagle Thread

Yesterday I saw about a half dozen bald eagles at NP Dodge park. They were all just sitting in trees. Then I went down to Manawa where there were a lot, not record amounts but at least 15-20. Several of them were active and flying around, the rest were sitting in trees or on the ice. The lake is about 15-20 percent melted.

I went to Lake Manawa Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this weekend. Friday the lake was about 85% frozen 15% opne, Saturday was way more open. Today, Sunday.... 95%+ Open. Its amazing what a strong south wind and white caps on the lake will do.

All that to say there were not very many eagles there today...

I saw a bunch of eagles down by Pacific Junction on Saturday too!

Forgot to mention, I was at the Surfside a couple weeks ago and a bald eagle flew over really low and landed in a tree just upstream of the Surfside.

Saw two eagles at Manawa today. Also note the most interesting ice texture I have ever seen at Manawa. Must have been the rain before the big freeze.
