A California payments company plans to open its second North American operations center in Omaha by this summer and employ about 300 people within a year.

The company, i2c Inc. of Redwood City, California, helps financial institutions, corporations and government agencies provide credit, debit, prepaid and other payment and commerce solutions through a cloud-based computer system called Agile Processing.

The company said Tuesday its Omaha investment would total $30 million over four years. It is making final plans for its Omaha location.

The office would expand i2c's account management, operations and client services divisions and have a network operations center, similar to a center it opened in Montreal, Canada, in 2016.

In a press release, Amir Wain, i2c's founder and chief executive, said the Omaha center will support the company's growth.

Interesting they added to the article since I posted it here. Ms. Johnson was an exc at First Data before switching to i2c. Her familiarity with Omaha clearly helped us here.

My completely uninformed guess is that they will end up in the office building NW of 90th and Dodge. It has about 50K SF of vacant space pretty good central location, it is on a bus line. With how fast they are planning on ramping up their workforce seems like they need something ready to go ASAP. Not a ton of that kind of space DT or Midtown right now.

I agree with you..

That said, if they were to ultimately locate DT, I wonder if they could be part of the mixed use component of the Civic site.. We have a nice First Data relocate rumor going on there, plus the added intrigue of a former FD exec now working at i2c..it would make for an interesting combo..

Speculation is always pretty fun...
