Crossroads info
The owner of Crossroads Mall and a developer from Denver have a new 350 million dollar plan that will be made public soon. Included in the plans is a 50,000 sq ft outdoor recreation store, 480,000 sq ft retail furniture store, a bowling center, two 1200 car parking structures, cinebistro theater, an 18 kitchen food hall with an attached mercantile hall with 20 bays each up to 800 sq ft, a vertical green house, food truck park, and 600 apartments and 200,000 sq ft of office space located above an additional 100,000 of retail space. Target and the current parking structure are staying put. The owner and developer won't be asking for much as far as incentives this time around. Demolition could start in the 3rd quarter of 2019. Construction expected to take around two years as most of the development components will be built at the same time.

First to comment. This is a very sensitive topic for all of us here. This is the deepest, harshest type of trolling you can do to us. Thank you for the laugh though.skyforce wrote: Mon Apr 01, 2019 10:21 am The owner of Crossroads Mall and a developer from Denver have a new 350 million dollar plan that will be made public soon. Not sure if this isn't the right place for this, but I actually heard from a legitimate source Yates is out and Krejci is partnering with the developer of Sterling Ridge. They supposedly will have more of an office and residential focus over mall retail.

Are you talking about Lockwood Development? If this is true, I think that is good news. Yates has his hands full with NEX (which is doing well) and I felt that Crossroads was too big for his development group. I would love to see residential at Crossroads. With ORBT and the Metro, that spot is a perfect place to live without a car since people could easily get to work if they work somewhere near Dodge or the CBD, and there's already established groceries, retail (Target), and restaurants in the area. Please let this not be a joke!OmahaJaysCU wrote: Wed Apr 03, 2019 7:23 pm Not sure if this isn't the right place for this, but I actually heard from a legitimate source Yates is out and Krejci is partnering with the developer of Sterling Ridge. Good April Fools bluff/joke here. I actually believed it when I first started reading it.
I just can't wait for what Crossroads will hold... I'm sure it will be spectacular. It better be....

I can get pushed out because I'm "too much" for some. Then, an observer of me comes suddenly swooping in to "fill my shoes." People are always more accepting of the new one, because their feathers aren't truly ruffled by them. (Yawn) I can count on it every time.

Just listened to this weekend's show; he also said he could be hearing about it soon. It's exciting even without any details. I am just glad there is another developer involved.Coyote wrote: Sat Apr 13, 2019 9:19 am Chamber of Commerce David Brown on Grow Omaha just said this will be a viable plan.

I am on the same boat. I hate to have the attitude of something is better than nothing, but if Lockwood is involved I at least have greater confidence that something will go through, even if it is not groundbreaking.Louie wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2019 8:04 amAnything with more viability than football fields worth of empty space will be better.buildomaha wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 7:19 pm I have a feeling whatever the project ends up being will be pretty middle of the road, but I don't think it will be disappointing by any means.

I expect suburban style mixed with medium density shops and apartments at this location.
I mean, we're Omaha.. The city of pie in the sky approvals and pie in the face buildouts.

Right, I really wouldn't be surprised -- nor disappointed, really -- if it ended up something like sterling ridge. Or a park even. It's pretty obvious, now, that the thinking has been too big here, and I no longer think we could support anything actually impressive from an urban standpoint, at this site. We have Aksarben, at least. How many of those could we possibly need?

This is incomprehensible to developers in the 21st century. Basically a foreign language.Dundeemaha wrote: Mon Apr 22, 2019 4:51 pm Maybe not the place for it but here's my best case, never going to happen, scenario.
Instead of a faux business district. Put streets in and make it a real mixed use business district with retail, small office space, 6-12 plexes and town houses

Re: Crossroads info
What I said wasn't 100% accurate. There have been legit buildouts, but our mayor currently doesnt have the ability to discern which developers are capable of fullfilling on proposals and which are not. Such as Noddle, he is good for 80% or better on his promises, which is a very high rate. We just have to do a better job wth discermment.Busguy2010 wrote: Mon Apr 22, 2019 8:44 am Right, I really wouldn't be surprised -- nor disappointed, really -- if it ended up something like sterling ridge. I can see why a continuation of the grid would be nice there...
In one sense, I sigh, and think, and want to say: "Just building something. Anything." Yet, part of me is glad they are waiting for the perfect project in the perfect timing and season.

As long as we're bringing back all the old ideas, how about an expanded version of the Lormung Lo lagoon.
My old signature got too old. So old it was getting almost as old me as me. Yeah, it was up there in years.
