Morningsky

Post by Bob from Omaha »

I wasn't sure where to put this but what happened to Morningsky? They used to post pretty frequently but haven't for a few weeks. I liked their site.

Just wondering.

I was thinking the same thing. Some of their articles were really good at highlighting projects and areas that do not get a lot of coverage.

I really liked their articles too, but they rarely post. Maybe once a week at most.

They were posting once a week with a several articles over the last several weeks. I emailed one of their staff I communicated with in the past, but haven't received a response yet.

I talk with the owner, Autumn MorningSky, from time to time on FB or LinkedIn. She usually responds to me within a couple hours but she has not responded to the message I sent Wednesday afternoon yet.

On Facebook, Autumn announced MorningSky was shutting down. She said their issue was their business model.

Shoot. I liked their laser focus on commercial real estate and economic development. Although they often rehashed OWH and other newspaper articles, their more in-depth coverages were interesting.

Obviously, people like us are a great base for their reach, but I am curious how many other people were interested in the articles.

I just assumed it was an enthusiast blog site.

Aside from the articles that posted, they had some service they were offering, almost like a networking/marketing service, for commercial real estate professionals. I had it explained to me by one of their staff, but it was a while back, so I do not remember the details. They were testing it in Omaha with a plan to expand to other cities. They were actually based out of Kansas City, but thought Omaha, with the amount of projects and momentum in commercial real estate development, was a good place to test their business model. Unfortunately, it did not pan out.

Its too bad, you never want to see a business, especially one promoting your home town fail. I was on Grow Omaha with Autum when she was getting ready to launch the site. She was very passionate about the project.

That said, Grow Omaha has very similar content. Instead of it being in the form of a written article on a website, its in the form of a 60 min radio show or 40 min podcast.

Here are all the recent pod casts:
