Exactly. Check out his ramblings/predictions on the fall of Nebraska Crossing.....

Greg
I do have to admit I am impressed with the addition of the Pepperjax Grill to the assortment of fine restaurants to eat at out there at the Nebraska Crossing. That shows me this mall is going to make it.

The European village and car factory will get built before this thing opens.

I saw this place and was curious when I was driving to the Taco Ride last week. I wondered what the story was behind it as it looks really fancy. You can tell someone has thrown some money into the building. Now, I know.

There is now a "Bob's Bog Boy" statue out front. We were going to pose next to it on Sunday but ran out of time.

I saw a Rotellas bread truck in front of Jimmys today. That Rotellas bread does not keep fresh very long. Could this meant the unthinkable that Jimmys will be open by soon? Rotellas is ok but just the same Rotellas bread being served at a restaurant does not impress me much.

I wholeheartedly agree! Thank you! If a restaurant doesn't bake its own bread & buns and desserts and kill its own cattle to make steaks and burgers and catch its own lobster and grow its own tofu, and harvest its own salt, and grow its own water, etc., etc. then no way am I eating there. And anyway, I read on the internet that Rotella's Bread products don't last more than an hour or so. If they have to use someone else's bread then stick with Wonder. You know why. I don't have to explain.

You sir will not be eating at Jimmys on this fine Mothers Day weekend or eating any of that world famous Rotellas bread. I am sure a visit to one of those nice safe restaurants in downtown Detroit you speak about will help heal your longing for the big O. Might as well go late at night I hear downtown Detroit is great late at night. Happy Mothers Day! :koko:

Well, it won't heal my longing for the big O but if you are ever here for a conference of cranky old trolls I'd love to take you to downtown Detroit at about midnight for a coney at American or Lafayette. I'll be sure to park far away so you can experience life in the big city away from 144th and Q.

Have a happy mothers day too!

Jimmys did not open today. The bread was delivered Thursday and they have not opened yet. The bread is getting stale. Maybe the Rotellas salesman rides around in a bread truck and was just making a sales call. :what:

People have been filling out applications and going on interviews for this place since summer of last year. They are jacking employees around hard even before they are hired. :what:

From reading your posts on this I just have to ask.

Did you move your mobile home in the parking lot? Bread, people applying....what else can you see out the windshield?

I'm no stranger to the bluffs. My Mom was born and raised in Council Bluffs. I ate Christmas dinner at my grandmas house in Council Bluffs for 20 years. Been cruising around Lake Manawa and hanging out there since I was a baby. I remember cruising around Lake Manawa every Sunday in the summer back in the 60's when the road around it was nothing more then a gravel road. The road was painfully narrow and wound through tons of huge cottonwood trees that lined the lake. Sometimes people would get stuck in the ruts. Sometimes the road was not wide enough and you would have to pull over the edge to squeeze by on coming cars. After dinner at grandmas we all piled in the car and hit the Dairy Queen and got malts and cones and took a ride around the lake. Even as a little kid I was thinking this lake gets boring after awhile ..........little did I know it would still sometimes be the highlight of my day some 50 years later.

This is a very weird situation that has unfolded there. I remember the World Herald reporting in December or January when it was delayed that people had been hired and would still have jobs after the delay then.

We are now in June and no new word or news. I would thing this is their peak season and they are now missing it.

And, keep in mind that Doozies is right down the street. that place is phenomenal. Their hand made ice cream is amazing. I've enjoyed the food I've had there too. Any place that wants to compete in that space will have to compete with Doozies. This place will have to be really good to make me want to go to Jimmy's over Doozies. I see it as an uphill climb for Jimmy's at this point regardless of the mismanagement in the opening.

I'm sure it was a simple mistake or your space bar missed. Here. Let me help, just in case.

A while and awhile have different meanings. A while is a noun phrase and means “a period of time.” In contrast, awhile is an adverb, and it means “for a time.”

Doozies is great. However there is one problem there, no place to sit. The inside is tiny. Hope the weather is good when you go. Even then, the outside seating is small too. I've met people there and we leave as there is no where to sit.

In terms of a quick casual bite, it doesn't seem to be a huge issue. People eat in their car at those types of places. Christy Creme has been a CB staple for decades and they get by with not much more seating than Doozies.

Really, if you think about it, CB has 2 amazing Ice Cream stands in Christy Creme and Doozies. Any ice cream and burger place has an uphill battle in that town.

Sorry, but I hate eating in my car. The burgers at Doozies are so good but so messy too. I'd rather not have that mess in my car. Plus, when you are meeting friends for lunch, who wants to sit in the car????? :what:

Oh, let's run with it.

Is this place really 'All American', or is it a front organization for Chinese intelligence? What flavors of malts do they have? If 'mango' or 'pomegranate' are on the list, it it truly American? Can I get a shake instead? Have the staff been given background checks to prove their citizenship? Do they have enough piercings to set off a metal detector? Can I pack a pistol? Would the Prince of Whales eat there? Have they dedicated their lives to a carefully curated list of television evangelists? I need to know these things if I'm going to travel 1000 miles for an experience of a lifetime, dang it.

Read the reviews and comments on Facebook. This looks like an unmitigated disaster if those are to be believed. Now, reviews and comments tend to skew to the negative, but it looks like employees are getting no training, wait times are reaching 1-2 hours, mediocre food, and terrible service.

Often, a restaurant simply cannot survive this. I try to give the benefit of the doubt, but when a restaurant takes a year to open...and then this, it's a bad sign.

Bad service and/or food and horrible wait times are often the result of a restaurant that rushes to open before it is ready.

Clearly, they should have waited another year. Seems like they spent most of the first year decorating the restaurant (which reportedly is really cool) vs., you know, training staff and testing the food production methods.
