There's a massive new data center coming to Sarpy County. Who is building 'Project Wizard'?

Possibly Apple or MicroSoft also.

But I think it will be Amazon. Along with Prime trucks, I have been seeing them use a lot of U-Haul's in these days leading up to Christmas.

If it’s Amazon then they will be in good company in Sarpy County. I hope this gets others such as Microsoft and Apple to invest in major Data centers here. We already have Facebook and Google. That Google Site is getting way bigger it looks like as well. Major construction going on. Be nice if they have this area the site of Mega Data centers. Surprised the NSA didn’t build one here they would be in good company with Offutt.

This is Amazon's Delivery Service Partner. It's Amazon's attempt to get away from using USPS, FedEx and UPS. While these businesses exclusively deliver Amazon packages, they are actually not Amazon employees or businesses. They are essentially contractors. The reason they were using U-Haul's is because there was a delay in delivering the Amazon-branded vans. The DSP/Amazon warehouse off I-80/370.

From what i heard and have knowledge to is JE Dunn is partnering with Google to build another data center in this part of Sarpy County, and I have also heard of Apple poking around the area.

There's no way it's Google. They own over a thousand acres at their south site alone. What is built up is not even a quarter of what that site can sustain. I will happily say I'm wrong, but I just can't see how Google would be building yet another site here. Just my two cents as a former employee.

I believe you are correct on one of these, based on confidential info I have seen - though I can't confirm which.

I have been told it is Google and will be bigger than FB's data center, with the build out potentially taking 10 years.

I find it really hard to believe that it would be Google Building this Data center and especially if they switched construction constractors to do so that would be quite major buzz. The site near I-29 S is expanding. I can see it being Amazon or even Apple but definitely not Google. They have way too much invested in Council Bluffs. I’d be shocked if it was.

I just know the CB Data center off I-29 is growing bigger with way more in store for the site itself. Then again Google is trying to catch up with Amazon with Data center capacity since Amazon is currently the leader. So is it possible sure anything is possible but they already have 2 data center’s and the second one is the biggest in it’s entire fleet of Data centers. If Google were to build there maybe it’s trying to flex some clout with Facebook but those 2 companies are in separate areas. One is Social and the other Is search results.

Datacenters are also the home to every site online. Google and Amazon (AWS) sell their datacenter space to individual site owners as well as companies that manage thousands (Flywheel, e.g.) in order to house each site. So a lot of this can be seen as spec builds.

Precisely. When amazon builds a datacenter, odds are that it’s purpose is web hosting for clients. Amazon web services is the largest in the sector and google and Facebook are trying not only to catch up, but to get their data out of amazon’s possession and into their own. It’s a double whammy.

Report: Mysterious company behind massive Papillion project could be Google

The entity proposing the construction of this center is known only as Fireball Group LLC, but now, new clues offered by Data Center Dynamics suggest the unnamed operator is Google.

Some are Flex drivers unless that is what you were talking about. They were told that they are getting a more permanent delivery center as their current location is very thrown together.

If you are not familiar with Flex, they are basically Uber drivers for Amazon. Amazon posts that they have 2, 3, 4 hour delivery shifts available and puts a price on it. They also do this for Whole Foods. If no one picks up that shift the price goes higher until someone does. Passing a very basic background check, having a car and yellow vest are about all you need to driver for them. There is bragging rights for finishing the route the fastest and they is why you now see so many thrown packages. If your two hour route takes you 45 minutes you get paid the same.

I am familiar with Flex and DSP's. They are similar, but not the same thing. From what I have heard from several DSPs is that Flex driving in Omaha is being phased out. Don't know how accurate that is or what the timeline is.

So two Google data centers in the Omaha metro. That's pretty cool.

My guess of why they are building a new one instead of adding onto the CB one is for redundancy purposes. That way if something happens at the CB site, they still have another one in the center of the country.

I'm just kind of in shock that they are building even another site so close to the other one. Good for the Omaha area. Especially if Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, or one of the other cloud hosting companies ever want to build a DC site here. It doesn't cross any of them off the list.

They actually have 3 Sites in total. 2 in Iowa and now 1 in Nebraska. The 2nd one is way bigger then both the original Iowa and Nebraska Data centers.

There’s going to be a lot more then 30 jobs created. That’s just google jobs. The security needed it’s going to be vast they need 3 shifts not to mention possible expansion.Also DCOPS and HWOPS personnel. It’s going to be more then 30.
