Some of it is really sharp. But some looks too busy. However, they paid homage to an era and I applaud.

Something standard is missing from the room. Who notices? I’m thinking it’s intentional and will become the norm.

No phone, but that’s no surprise. No TV shown either, but it could just be hidden-away, and not really important to show photographically for marketing. Or they know most people will spend their time looking at their smartphones or IPad and don’t need a TV. Or was it something else you noticed?

Looks like a great new hotel option Omaha can be proud of.

Agreed..

This property has such a grand Omaha history.. I was so pleased when I heard it was being remodeled into the place it was originally intended to be- A point of destination hotel..with amenities that have a world class touch and a reputation for midwestern hospitality...

Tv is there. It’s above the desk. But you are right about the phones.

Ah, I see the TV now. Nice unobtrusive placement though, although obvious. I’m just used to seeing the TV always on or above dresser-like furniture, the way it was with old tube type TVs in hotel rooms.

I would almost gurnetee that there will be a phone in the room. These "unfinished rooms" will have them installed when the entire system is installed and ready for the bookings dates.

Yes, I’m quite certain there will be telephones in the rooms..

A Kimpton hotel is not a development of cabins one would rent in a wooded area, lol..

Kimpton hotels are a pretty exclusive brand. Omaha is fortunate to have their presence in our hospitality community...

Nothin’ like landline phones to show how technologically advanced your hotel is.

Yeah, landline phones have pretty much gone the way of the Dinosaur.. Believe it or not, there is still a pay telephone outside the Bucky’s off 132nd and West Center, lol.. I think most hotels simply offer the land phones as a courtesy..even though they likely get little use..

Most hotel/motel lodging used to place the Holy Bible in each room too.. Don’t see that any more these days..for the most part...

I would guess the biggest use of the landline phone in a hotel is for calls within the hotel itself. The front desk, Room service ( if it is available), and other services within the hotel itself depending on what is offered.

I would actually think that the low-end discount hotels with little in house service will remove landline phone before the full-service hotels.

I’m expecting the front desk communications will be through the wall mounted monitor (also used as a television.). Given this is a full service hotel, room service communications are important.

Other options will be the work space desk with a hidden phone.

That might be temporarily there but it will 100% get replaced by a hotel app or line to text. Most Americans would rather have a convenient charging port for their phone than a landline phone. Not saying it is right, just is what it is.

Open to the public this Thursday, November 19th..

From today’s W-H-

“A familiar face to a historic midtown Omaha hotel will be the first to check in when it reopens this week after a $75 million restoration launched more than three years ago.

Adorned with a new overhead sign that shines pink at 302 S. 36th St., the expanded 205-room Cottonwood covers a city block.

It features multiple dining and bar areas, each with a different personality, and has a brand new wing that added suites and gathering spaces and a resort-style outdoor swimming pool and plaza. A carriage house-like party lodge includes a poolside bar.

Surrounding the Cottonwood is the Blackstone business district, which on a broader level continues its own ascent from a sketchy pass-through zone into a hip and trendy commercial corridor. Farnam Street is the district’s main drag today, as was the case in the early 1900s, when it was the spine of Omaha’s wealthy Gold Coast neighborhood.“..

We stayed at the Cottonwood on Saturday. From the pool, the bars, the insanely good steakhouse...it surpassed all expectations. I firmly believe that its the premier hotel in Omaha by a long shot.

I stayed at this hotel last year, and it was beautiful. The interior a little bit Edwardian, a little bit 1920s, and the rooms were clean and modern. I had the Ruben sandwich there and it was quite good. The brunch that I had the next day was in a charming little cafe near the lounge on the first floor. I have no plans to stay again, but when I do, I want to go to the steakhouse.

The steakhouse will not disappoint. It may hurt the wallet, though.

Has anyone joined the Cottonwood Hotel pool club? Considering joining and want to get other people's thoughts on membership - Is it worth the investment?

We debated doing it but havent pulled the trigger. Its a bit steep for just pool access and the caveats to bringing additional people are kind of limiting.

I read that the price is 3K per year but you get 5 nights at the hotel included as well as social events and bar and food discounts.

I don't know if they have a pool-only membership.

Last year the members thing was a one-time fee of $3K for a couple, plus $230/month, which included $45 food/bev credit per month. If you use the 5 nights that are included (175/night), then you're paying $5,760 for the year and getting $1415 in benefits. Guest passes are unlimited Mon-Thurs, very limited during the weekend. You also get free access to their gym and free use of a small boardroom, and free valet parking.

That's not personally how my family will choose to spend almost $6K, but I know many who do. Their rates are on par with Field Club's no-golf membership prices.

I'm a member of Field Club and have a social membership which includes access to the pool, clubhouse, and limited rounds of golf per year. The cost is $200 per month plus another $55 capital dues to help fund the renovation of the clubhouse which is underway. The renderings of the updated club are pretty cool and sorely needed. Dining in the clubhouse costs extra as do many but not all of the events. I'm happy to answer any questions.

Current member here (joined Summer 2022 when it was first offered).

The prices have steadily increased (their website insinuates it will increase again next year https://www.thecottonwoodhotel.com/pdfs ... cottonwood) while benefits have decreased.

Benefits originally included 20% off on Tuesdays at Committee Chophouse, 5 comp nights a year, and many fun complimentary member events. The Chophouse discount was dropped this year (its now 20% off in Orleans Room), and the member events are "exclusive," but no longer complimentary.

I initially joined as the benefits and cost were preferable to Field Club for a single person (my partner doesn't do pools or social clubs), however the gap is closing quickly and I'm left wishing I would have gotten on Field Club's wait list instead.
