Jeff Beals mentioned this morning on the Grow Omaha min that Starbucks was going to build on the site of the former gas station on the North West corner of 90th and Fort.

Seems like it’s expanded to areas that have had a “Starbucks desert” of sorts. The new shops are in areas that have needed them. Sometimes I feel like the Starbucks market is over saturated but the newest Omaha ones have greatly needed them in their areas, including this one.

I also agree, especially in the biggest cities like NY, Chicago etc- Starbucks over saturation is in full effect, lol...

Pretty goofy when you really think of it. Considering how much time one spends waiting in line for their overpriced pre-work coffee, you'd think these places wouldn't be so popular. You could just stay at home an extra 10 minutes and make your own cup of coffee, spend half the time and probably well over 1000% less money... But that might just be me... I can probably count on my hands how many times I've been to any coffee shop in the last 10 years. Probably only been to Starbucks twice overall.

The Keystone neighborhood really needs a sit down full service coffee shop. That’s what I guess I meant by it and IMO Scooters & Starbucks taste completely different.

Heck for 10 years Crossroads had a vacant food court but two Starbucks locations (in Target and B&N)

Right- vacated mall and long vacated food court- but Starbucks inside B&N and Target, lol..

I really hope B&N is one merchant that has a bay reserved once the Crossroads redevelopment is completed...

And I think here’s another difference- People seem to count the Starbucks kiosk locations within a grocery/bookstore or department store.. But there is a difference between one of those and a free standing, full service sit down Starbucks location..and this is where the Omaha metro is seeing an expansion of it’s Starbucks footprint..

While I have grown to like Scooters and sometimes frequent them, they do taste completely different and I still prefer Starbucks...

I really feel like I live under a rock now... I understand there are differences in flavors across varieties of beans, but I just simply haven't been to enough coffee shops to establish a taste for any of them. I seriously just boil 6 ounces of water and use tasters choice instant coffee anymore. Ready in 2 minutes, tastes fine and is the caffeine I need to get going. And I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable with the prices of some of the drinks, so I guess I'll go back to my cozy rock.

There is nothing wrong with that.. You do you. Millions of people in the world do the exact same thing .. And from a pocketbook standpoint, it’s smarter..

That said, I’m one of those guys who goes out for his caffeine fix. My beverage of choice- a Cafe Americano (which is espresso shots into hot water) runs me under $4.00..so while it doesn’t break the bank, I’m spending significantly more coin to get that fix. I’ll also say, what I purchase at a local coffee shop or a Starbucks or Scooters tastes much better than what I can make at home..even if i grind up their beans, lol..

Some of the prices of specialty caffeinated beverages can run $6-7 bucks plus..But for me, who simply likes his “simple”, caffeinated Starbucks beverage, under $4 bucks is a relatively small price to pay..

So it just comes down to personal preference and choice.. To each their own...

None in Bakers (nowhere near enough space, it's one of the smaller Omaha stores). 72nd doesn't have one either (but has the new standalone store by Freddy's)
