During a commercial break on the "Grow Omaha Uncut" video, Trenton mentioned Omaha Based DMSi, a Lumber Yard Inventory & Accounting Software company, is purchasing the AMC Oakview theater and turning it in to their office campus.

Wow..
If true, this is certainly a good use of this parcel space.. And a nice addition to the Oakview Mousetrap area...

DMSi, if true, would be moving closer to Omaha rather than further west.

Would be nice if they could split up that huge parking lot into other parcels...definitely don't need all those spots.

Yeah, I actually really like this move. It helps Oakview for sure, but shows alternative uses for ailing retail locations throughout Omaha.damonhynes wrote: Tue Apr 20, 2021 1:36 pm DMSi, if true, would be moving closer to Omaha rather than further west.

Yeah long term this might be the best option out there. Turn the whole thing into an office park, including the mall.

Re: AMC Oakview Theater turning Office
For years, I'd guessed Oak View theaters final fate would be a mega church. This is a bit different than what I expected.
As for turning the parking lot into parcels, I kind of doubt it. That area is so far set back you don't get decent traffic exposure, and the occupancy rate is so low among the existing out parcels in that area, I'd think the idea of building more in the mousetrap, and especially in that area, is DOA.
Turning the whole area, including the mall, into an office complex seems feasible. I picture something like North Park up off of Maple, but in a more centrally located area. It could also spur some retail/restaurant activity to come back to the ailing area.

Re: AMC Oakview Theater turning B&B Theater
https://www.ketv.com/article/kansas-cit ... /39578269#A family-owned Kansas City-based theatre is making its way to Omaha.
B&B Theatres has announced it will bring its first theatre operation to Nebraska in the coming months. A new 24-screen theatre will be coming to the site of the now-closed AMC Oakview theater. The new theatre will have electric recliners and laser projectors, according to a release.
B&B adds they plan to add three premium large format B&B Theatres grand screens along with a bar which will offer wine, beer, cocktails, and made-to-order hot food.
