I don’t know, though they do have signs up on the building.

Ack! You beat me to it on the signs. (The Old Chicago signs were still up a couple weeks ago...it gave me faint hope they might return, but alas.)

I noticed that too. The one sign on the back is still there. Looks like that might be doing some work to the building, maybe they were afraid the contractors would damage them.

Hacienda Real says they should be open in their Omaha location in a couple months.

Monday, July 18, I was in the Lincoln location and they said they would be opening the following Monday (7/25).
Hopefully that works out.
Excited I can share my weekly obsession with my family without the drive!

That's good news! I drive by that spot every week and it feels like it's never going to open. Glad they're moving full steam ahead.

Curious to see if their food is worth the extremely long wait. The “Mexican” place that went in where Petrow’s was after about a 1 year wait fell flat, in my opinion,

We drive past this place probably every two weeks, and were just wondering if it was ever going to open.

And then we saw the OWH article, and were like "FINALLY"!

But then we realized, we will probably never go. We have South O and the food truck on Leavenworth that are just as convenient without having that west O suburban vibe. I'll have to see if any of my friends who I trust for food reviews like it...

Review: At Hacienda Real, home cooked Mexican and Tex-Mex hits the spot

SARAH BAKER HANSEN wrote:Sometimes when I’m deciding whether or not to review a place, I turn to Google, simply to learn a little bit more. When I googled “Hacienda Real,” the Lincoln-based, locally owned chain of Mexican restaurants that opened its third location in Omaha in August, this line popped up inside the box devoted to recent Google reviews: “Their salsa and even their guacamole was a bit too spicy for this white girl.”

Say no more.

I have eaten at their Omaha location and I really enjoyed both their red salsa as well as their bean dip. The chips are pretty good as well, not at all greasy. The pollo mole is the real deal.

Some photos from our dinner last night. The margaritas are tasty, as are the complimentary chips and dips and everything we’ve tried so far on the menu. I’m certainly not used to paying American prices for Mexican food, but what-are-ya-gonna-do?

I ate at this spot for the first time this past Saturday.. It was okay.. But honestly, it “feels” like most all of the 2 or 3 dozen Mexican (Tex Mex or Americanized Mex) spots in metro Omaha..and they all pretty much taste the same to my palate..

Their salsa and bean dips were good, their chips were fine..but the Tamale and burrito combo plate I ordered tasted pretty much like Romeo’s.. and again, Just okay..

Man, I miss Nettie’s and their fire Chili..

Anyway, did I miss something here? What’s your experience at this place?…

Ciao..LiO…Peace

In my opinion it’s better than Romeos, but I wouldn’t say it’s outstanding. I will say my wife raves about the Chili Colorado.

I have been twice. My family and I went a month or two after they opened. Then the Grow Omaha guys went there about a year ago. Its fine but nothing that jumps out at me as I place I need to rush right back to.

I like it. Portions are too big for most appetites (not a positive in my book), but I really like the chips and salsa. I typically order a mole dish, or a molcajete. They have daily specials and often that is what I end up with.
The margaritas are also decent. When possible we eat outdoors on their patio, which isn’t exactly scenic (being next to their parking lot), but offers fresh air.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Maybe I. Need to try a special, or the Chili Colorado, which is a dish I like. The Tamale/burrito combo plate with rice and beans tasted pretty generic and lacked flavor.. Unlike that same plate I used to get at Nettie’s- which was full on flavor..
