I love Lincoln. Have family there and where my family first started. I remember when it was on par with Topeka, St. Joe, and Sioux City, or so it seemed. Now it has blown way past those places and is not looking back.

Indeed, it really is a much larger and prosperous city than those.

Big fan of this project. Would love for Omaha to copy it. Would add some nice height as well as make better use out of the many parking garages downtown

That would be great if Omaha could build one or two of these. There surely would have to be demand for it, if rates weren't too high.

Fantastic looking structure. I need to drive down there and check it out sometime. I wonder what the square footage is of each floor, they look really small. Wonder if this parking garage was always built with this in mind.

Not sure about the square footage. Yes, this parking garage was originally built with some sort of high rise in mind. The original high rise fell through in the nineties, and was replaced with the Applebee’s that was there for a long time.

Had to drive to Lincoln, you can see how much of an impact this makes on the skyline when driving in on 180. Sorry for bad quality they were taken while driving through a dirty windshield.

Wow, I know this is overused, but it is a gamechanger for the skyline.

So nice to see a new tall building in Lincoln. They had gone a very long time without adding any significant height. The skyline had grown stale, this gives it a new look and feel of optimism. Very impressive, was even built during a pandemic.

Good point. Those should have a penthouse feel with 3 sides being all glass. I am really hoping this project inspires similar small footprint highrises for Omaha.

I've always thought that the SE corner of 16th and Dodge would be a perfect spot for a skinny high rise in downtown Omaha. The garages on the Civic site and the NE corner of 17th and Davenport could maybe do a residential high rise like this one in Lincoln too.

When I drove through Lincoln on I-80 on a road trip last week I was really impressed at how much this adds to the skyline view from the interstate. Very exciting indeed.

Its kind of embarrassing that Omaha can't add something like this. The tallest building under construction in Omaha is the Juvi center at a whopping 8 stories.

Lied Place Residences developers make case for additional TIF dollars

Developers of the Lied Place Residences and city officials made their case to the City Council on Monday for providing an additional $716,000 in tax-increment financing for what will be the second-tallest building in the city.

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission recommended an amendment to the redevelopment agreement of the 20-story condo going up at 11th and Q streets that would increase the TIF dollars from $5 million to $5.7 million.

The City Council listened to the proposal Monday and will vote on it next week. No council members expressed any objections to the change.

One of the developers told the planning commission last month that 75% of the condo units are sold, and there are commitments for about 40% of the office space. That includes the restaurant space, where he said a tenant has been identified but has not yet signed a lease.

Developers expect the first condo owners and some of the office tenants will be able to move in in January.
