The Scoular Building (2027 Dodge Street)
Don't have any new information, but I just noticed that whoever buys this property gets a bunch of surface parking west of the building and south of it. Potential redevelopment opportunity? I can only hope. It was some potential to have a big project done here, or subdivide the parking lots have have small developers build something on the parking lots. Any reason Nustyle doesn't purchase this property? They already own a bunch of other lots on this super block and the one directly south including the giant parking garage.

Yes, do we know if the plan is to repurpose or to raze and build new?iamjacobm wrote: Tue Jan 25, 2022 12:12 am TIF request before planning board next week, will be interesting to see what is planned here when they get posted.

It's really amazing how demo-happy this town continues to be into the 21st century. It's juvenile and sad.

Have you already seen the planning board submission? Are they demoing that building? The aesthetic looks like it would be a cool residential project, if converted.Vitruvius wrote: Wed Jan 26, 2022 11:51 pm It's really amazing how demo-happy this town continues to be into the 21st century. The original plan was a renovation, but that was a couple years ago now. It's bones look good and the west portion of the building that's been used as a wedding venue for years is sharp.

No demolition, but nothing really exciting either. They are converting the building for multitenant office use, including the existing gym and venue space.

My statement was about the general attitude in Omaha. I'm glad to see there will be no demo.ita wrote: Thu Jan 27, 2022 12:01 amHave you already seen the planning board submission? I'm glad to see the south parking lot will be redone with some landscaped areas. That parking lot has always been a mess/eyesore.

I hope they are able to build an apartment complex as originally planned. While the landscape improvements are appreciate, it they could build on either surface parking lot, that would be awesome.Cindy Gonzalez
Originally, the developer hoped to include a new 150-unit apartment building on the west parking lot. Viscardi said that component bumped into a problem and might be revived at a later date.

Okay, someone help me out... 25 replies, and not one mention of where this is. I'm sure the links say, but this has to be the most unclear topic I've ever read. I'm interested to see how many replies this thread gets before somebody spills the beans. O/U 35.

2027 dodge st is the address. It's on the TIF application.Busguy2010 wrote: Mon Feb 07, 2022 2:08 am Okay, someone help me out... 25 replies, and not one mention of where this is. Re: The Scoular Co.
FINALLY. I had a little bit of fun trying to find out without any more information than just clicking on this thread. Critic's reply was the closest thing to any remote mention of a location within the thread, and 2027 Dodge was the one I honed in on being the likely building being talked about, but it was still unclear. Hope the mods add an address or intersection to the title or something. There's a reason I never read or replied to this for 15 months.

Would be wonderful if the mods could go through some of these threads and add addresses or [insert cardinal direction] intersections to the titles. Some of them are fairly assumptive, this one being the most I've come across.

Re: The Scoular Co.
I agree with this. Having a more standard naming convention would be really helpful. Like on Austin Skyscraper forum page for towers, they have the name of the building or location, number of floors, height, and project status.Busguy2010 wrote: Mon Feb 07, 2022 2:40 am Would be wonderful if the mods could go through some of these threads and add addresses or [insert cardinal direction] intersections to the titles. Re: The Scoular Co.
I like the idea as well although that's quite a bit of work for the mods. It might help it forum members take the initiative on new posts and editing their own threads they started. There are conversely many threads where this would, of course, be unnecessary (Westroads, Henry Doorly Zoo, Leahy Mall, etc).

Re: The Scoular Building (2027 Dodge Street)
I would say that most of the development threads have a direction or address in the name where needed. I know moderators have added a lot of those. I would also agree that the original poster should be adding it too...
That said, I believe this thread was a business news thread that was in the business section. Instead of starting a new development thread, the old business thread was used and moved to the Urban Section. When it was moved it was not re-named to include an address.
Thread has now been split and this portion renamed "The Scoular Building (2207 Dodge Street)"

I definitely appreciate that. In no way was I blaming the moderators for the issue, just pointing out that the mods are the ones who could make the changes. And I totally agree, when people start a new thread or move a thread, there should be clear information in the title or added to the title.Brad wrote: Mon Feb 07, 2022 8:22 pm I would say that most of the development threads have a direction or address in the name where needed. Except, the address is 2027.

Re: The Scoular Building (2027 Dodge Street)
Interesting. Their proposed Anglim project didn't have any parking, so maybe that's why they are buying this, or are they going to transition from the Anglim and move what they were going to do there, medical office and clinic space, to the Scoular building and keep Anglim a parking garage? I am really interested to see what they do with these properties.iamjacobm wrote: Thu Aug 10, 2023 2:46 pm CHPD who also recently bought the Angelim building adjacent to this bought this last month.
