Very excited about this hire. Adrian is as straight a shooter as they come and has excellent connections in the city which should help with fundraising. Maybe we will see UNO add some sports? Either way, the department is in good hands.

Just getting an AD who can buff up customer service would be an improvement.

Yeah I think the fundraising part is key but improving customer service would be second. If they can continue to improve their finances, down the road they'd be able to upgrade their coaching.

I quit our 4 season tickets in the lower bowl due to not being able to buy a parking space that was close enough for my late wife to not get super cold (medical condition).

Absolutely no help there and we have had season tickets all the way back to the Civic.

Yeah I always thought they should have outsourced tickets, donations and such to UNL. UNL has the infrastructure for that. I have UNO hockey tickets and UNL football ones, and it's night and day difference how much easier it is to do things with UNL. It's not even close.

UNO lost a lot of season ticket holders and only one of the 8 seems interested in even occasional games. Mostly life changes, but the bile is still in my mouth from how they treated us. They can go pound ice chips.

Interesting. I wonder who actually owns the rights to that design. that nearly exact design was the image on the Omaha Parliament 2020 scarf for Union Omaha.

I voted for #3.

Watson Signs with Women's Basketball

Deanay Watson becomes the second off-season recruit to sign with Omaha women's basketball, the team announced Wednesday morning. Watson is a graduate transfer out of Southeast Missouri State where she played the last two seasons. "Deanay is a versatile forward with a tremendous motor and ability to rebound and run the floor," said head coach Carrie Banks. "I like that she can play in the paint and is continuing to evolve her perimeter game. She is a big personality, and I know Maverick fans will love watching her play."

Watson led the Redhawks last season scoring 11.1 points per game and grabbing 5.8 rebounds per game. She shot over 52 percent from the field and three-point range. Watson totaled 11 assists, 28 steals, and seven blocks on the year. The senior guard produced 19 double-figure scoring performances. She went 9-of-14 from the field at Tennessee State for a season-high 22 points. "I chose Omaha because of the atmosphere," said Watson. "It felt like home minus the heat. On top of that, the coaches and the girls actually getting to know me was a plus. It's my last year, so I have to make it my best year, and Omaha's the best place to do it."

Stanley Inks with Women's Basketball

Head women's basketball coach Carrie Banks announced the signing of Aaliyah Stanley to the 2022-23 roster, Tuesday morning. Stanley is a guard transfer out of Florida Gulf Coast where she played two seasons. "Aaliyah is our first signee of the off-season, and I am truly excited to welcome a player of her caliber to our program," said Banks. "She is a dynamic guard that shoots the ball well and make plays for her teammates. I love her passion for the game and can't wait to see all she accomplishes as a Maverick."

As a sophomore at FGCU, Stanley was tabbed to the ASUN All-Tournament Team. She finished third on the team scoring 9.6 points per game through 27 games played. Stanley led the team and ranked seventh in the ASUN shooting 38.1 percent from three-point range. The Boynton Beach native totaled 30 assists, 23 steals, and 58 rebounds on the year. Stanley produced 15 games with 10 or more points as a sophomore, which included a career-high 25 points in the ASUN semifinal win over Lipscomb. She dished out a career-high six assists at Stetson that same season.

Women's Soccer Announces 2022 Schedule

Head women's soccer coach Tim Walters released the 2022 schedule Monday afternoon. The Mavericks will play nine matches at Caniglia Field this fall, which includes two exhibition matches in August. The home schedule features matches against Big 10, Big 12, and SEC opponents. The slate opens on Sunday, August 7 with a home exhibition match vs. Nebraska. The Mavericks downed the Huskers, 1-0, on the road last season in regular season play. Kickoff between the rivals is set for 6 p.m. at Caniglia Field.

Omaha Athletics Extends Broadcast Agreement with NRG Media
Omaha Hockey, Basketball to Air on 1290 AM Effective Upcoming 2022-23 Athletics Season

Omaha Athletics and its athletics multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD's Omaha Sports Properties, announced a broadcast extension with longtime partner NRG Media. The new agreement, concurrent with the 2022-23 college athletics season, calls for News Talk 1290 AM KOIL to carry all hockey games live. Additionally, 1290 AM will provide fans live coverage of Omaha men's and women's basketball. In the event of a scheduling conflicts, NRG Media will utilize additional stations, 1180 The Zone AM KZOT and 1620 The Zone AM KOZN, to carry live game coverage. "We're thrilled to continue working with an outstanding broadcast partner in NRG Media," said Omaha Athletics Executive Associate Athletic Director of External Affairs, Mike West. "Our two brands share a rich history together, and we know NRG Media truly believes in the success of Omaha Athletics. Without question, they're enthusiastic about delivering our programming to fans, and we appreciate their longtime support."

"We are excited to continue this great partnership with Omaha Athletics and LEARFIELD through 2025," said Mark Shecterle, General Manager, NRG Media Omaha. Gary Sharp, co-host of NRG Media's sports/talk station 1620 The ZONE, will continue calling play-by-play for Omaha Men's Basketball on 1290 KOIL.
