I was in the CC store earlier this month, ordering ice cream and I mentioned to the owner that I love love love their ice cream and wished they would come out west. He smiled and said they will be very soon… I told him that it’s too bad they didn’t grab the space at 180th and center where Voodoo Taco is now located. He said they had looked at that space but found another one that’s even better. I asked when they would be opening, and he said he was not ready to give specifics, but it will be soon.

Good idea… Something is definitely brewing. He told me “you won’t have to drive down here much longer, because you will have one in your neighborhood!” And then he winked :-) I told him I was so happy to hear this news because IMO that is hands-down the best ice cream in Omaha! Maybe it’s going in the Village Pointe area, or around Legacy.

That could be the case, but It is what it is. I was with a group of about five people, we were the only ones in the store at the time. I don't know what happened to him just before I came in, but he had that real hipster douchebag vibe about him. He didn't have any of the regular flavors like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, or even something as "crazy" as chocolate mint or cookies n cream. I settled on the Blackstone Brickle. Asked for a cone of that, and he handed me a bowl. I told him I asked for a cone, and he took the bowl back and begrudgingly stuck a cone on top. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but that's not how an ice cream cone works, right? In that moment, he acted like it was my issue that he got my order wrong. That interaction left such a bad taste in my mouth that I didn't even enjoy the ice cream, and now I hate vintage mustaches. That kind of attitude is what you expect from a 15 year old working at DQ, not the owner of a business trying to make a living. It is what it is.

And look, I'll even throw him a bone because this happened in 2017 and he hadn't been open that long. Maybe he has adapted since then. 5 years is a long time. According to the website, they do have the "classics" on tap daily now, but that wasn't the case when I went. But I'll never patronize that place again.

My favorite is lemon verbena and butter brickle… But they also have the old standbys, chocolate, vanilla, chocolate chip, strawberry, etc.!

Not gonna happen. I don't even really eat much ice cream, so you'd have to pull my teeth to get me to walk into that joint again. I'll even give ya the Ice cream should have been good. I think it would have been good, but I absolutely do not want to support the owner. I don't care if the ice cream is the best in the world.

You come off as someone involved in the business. I don't blame ya, nothing wrong with coming here to boost your business.

Nope I don’t even know the owner’s name. I live in far west Omaha. I was referred to NE Med early this summer and had to make that trek 3x week for the entire months of Jun/Jul/Aug. Between appts I discovered the Blackstone area and wandered into the shop. I ended up going numerous times in that 3 month period. We have zero artisan ice cream options in West O so I was excited to find this spot. I was so happy to hear they are opening up out here, and I really hope it’s true.

I know his name. I told my brother after that experience and he knew him from high school. I wont share the details, but I'll just say they knew each other. As I told him the story, he didn't defend him at all. He kinda had a "go figure" type of reaction. But thats all the more I'll say. Enjoy your ice cream.

Weird... I had no idea Mustache man was the owner. I've never seen him anything less than awesome... I'm not pulling any arms to get anyone in there though. There are other great spots (Freezings, Ted And Wally's, eCreamery)

For Coneflower, I'll be happy to see them succeed with a second store. And not just to keep the West O riff-raff out of Blackstone

Will be interesting to see if Coneflower can make it in west Omaha after eCreamery closed down their 114th street location. That closure surprised me as they seemed busy.

I think it will do great, depending on where they go. Around Village Pointe or Legacy would be ideal, lots of foot traffic at both. We have the need and the population for an artisan ice cream store like this in this area. Other than DQ and Coldstone, there is nothing like CC out this way…and BTW I don’t consider DQ or cold stone to be any competition for CC!

I never even knew ecreamery was at 114th…poor visibility and/no advertising?? We would have gone there, it’s too bad. They have great ice cream.

Poor advertising. It was right next to both DJs Dugout and the China Buffet and got a lot of walk in traffic from both. We would go there, but one day, we went and it was closed down. They retreated back to Dundee.

Their ice cream flavors were pedestrian, but they made really good sherbets and sorbets. They would give that polite and dismissive smile if you suggested a flavor (even something simple like old school chocolate chip) and never actually do anything with it.

They had good cookies.

DQ beats them for the availability of pup cups for my dog. Also price.

I didn't know that Coneflower Creamery was an ice cream shop, because I don't have a sweet tooth or look for ice cream shops.

But once I heard that Coneflower Creamery was voted as the best as KETV reported, I decided to check it out and sure enough the ice cream tasted so natural and not artificial with just the right amount of sugar. I was impressed at the quality of the flavor and texture.
