Similar to the W, we’re not really their type of market either..
They're opening a location in Jacksonville. I think we can beat that.
I suppose. I dunno. Maybe if it's all part of a larger casino component that hasn't been mentioned yet I'd be more inclined to believe this rumor.

Off topic for sure but...

First time I ever heard of The Cheesecake Factory a cute girl invited me to go to one while in Chicago. We go, I sit down and decide I want to find the factory, not just see the "after tour dinner spot". When I can't find it, I ask her where the factory was. She laughed hard.

That doesn't mean what's being reported is untrue but until something offical comes out (if it ever does), take it for what it is - a "rumor" that we all hope is true.

I'm guessing this person (or the person providing the info) has signed an NDA so they have to be EXTREMELY careful with what they say. Projects get pushed back all the time - especially these days. Again, it doesn't mean it's untrue. Now if we are still talking about this 2 years from now and nothing has happened, sure - then mock away and doubt.
It comes from having repeatedly been fed rumors of incredibly exciting projects that have turned out to be completely false and only posted for the poster's amusement. Working in an industry adjacent to real estate development and land use planning, the projects detailed in this rumor as well as the supposed timeline of announcements and construction milestones have thrown a lot of red flags for me as being improbable. That said its possible there are components that are not being explained well by the poster.
I know who is the person making these rumors and all I'll say is they work in real estate. I won't say anything more than that though. Whether these rumors are valid is a different story.

They aren't really PBR themed, more just country themed bar with like Coyote Ugly-esque waitresses and a mechanical bull.

Not my scene, but it's not like you should expect to need to know a lot about bull riding to feel comfortable lol.

I would totally go, probably once. I'm just equally amused that there is a PBR. I guess I shouldn't be. I used to work with a professional Yoyo-er.

We have a PBR in St. Louis. It mostly caters to tourists and exurbanites. It's like the sort of bar you'd find in the Capitol District but the only people who go there are people who would drive a lifted truck.

I know these are all rumors, but with PBR (4k sq. ft.), Sugar Factory (4k sq. ft.), City Target (31k sq. ft.), Puttshack (25k sq. ft.)rumored for the Mercantile, that is quite a bit of retail and entertainment space. I know we should poo poo chains, but the Mercantile could be downtown's premier district.

If this actually is true it is a complete game changer and would lure people from west Omaha and similar areas that would have never considered living downtown.

Not everything can be a Chef Paul Kulik project or a Block16, but hopefully there will be a good infusion of local talent when the dust settles from all of these projects and rumors.

I think it would be hard to get local talent/businesses in a hypothetical development like this, unless it's someone really well established. Rents are going to be some of the highest, if not the highest, in the metro if things pan out the way npdodger says they are. Though it would be neat to see if the old Grey Plume folks are still around, or if J. Coco team could find their way to a downtown spot, maybe even here.

Even if all of npdodger's rumored developments turn out to be false, I think it is still a huge win to get Medical Solutions and their 1,000 employees coming to the Mercantile. My guess is that the streetcar has a big role in Hines reworking the Mercantile development plan, which has led to getting Medical Solutions. And I think their commitment, when finalized, could be the first domino to fall, leading to residential, retail, entertainment options, etc. like those being tossed around.

From what I can google Medical Solutions looks like it has an office at Westroads right now, though it looks fairly small so I can't imagine that's their only location for their 1,000 employees at the moment.

It’s absolutely a huge win to have Medical Solutions move their business base to the downtown core..More workers downtown equals more people, more vibrancy, more potential for residential..all equaling to more amenity driven development..like a full service grocery store etc :thumb:

Yeah, it's great our downtown is doing so good right now and gaining a lot of new jobs.

Not everywhere is so lucky. Des Moines is unfortunately losing a lot of jobs downtown right now due to big companies like Wells Fargo pulling out for the suburbs.

On the SLC skyscraper forum page, they've often lamented on missed opportunities to get their tech companies to build downtown. Someone recently stated that because Utah has 0 Fortune 500 companies headquartered there the chances of finally getting something over 500 ft is very slim.
