Indeed. If it's such a concern, there are a handful of lovely electric cars for sale. And one can rent a gasoline powered car for longer road trips if they have range anxiety.

Hmm, well even in the link you provided, 2060 is by far the latest prediction of peak oil. A lot of em think it might have already happened, but the pandemic may have helped kick the can down the road a bit. I don't remember the article, but I definitely read some prediction that we would burn our last drop of oil by around 2060. And we are definitely not prepared for that as a society.

Reg Unleaded at the Flying J @ I80 and Hwy 6 was 3.40 this morning when I went by at 5 AM. No one else on my drive had made a jump yet. My observations are that the Flying J is typically the first to go up as well as down.

Oil is up over $6 due to the current situation in Europe, so expect another price jump sooner than later.

I just saw $4.09 at Anderson on 114th and Davenport. That's the highest I have ever seen in Omaha. Last night the Costo right up the street on 124th and Dodge was $3.74.

I don't normally pay any attention to prices, but since so many people have been talking about it, I have been looking a little more.

I saw 4.09 at a number of places I drive past on my way o work at 5 AM. Not done yet either I would guess.

I see gas theft is on the rise. Except now instead of siphoning they're just crawling under the vehicle and drilling a hole in the gas tank. Like the catalytic converter thefts the target seems to be trucks and SUVs with lots of ground clearance that makes access easy.

Went to Glenwood for dinner last night several stations were $2.99 and one in town was $2.89. Kind of crazy considering most stations in Omaha are around $3.39.

I paid $3.29 at Amoco on 120th and Pacific Saturday afternoon..

The two stations at I80 & 370 were 3.19 this morning. Yesterday they were 3.29

You have to appreciate the evil genius.... Charge people almost $5/gallon for gas for a bit and then when you drop it to $3 they think it's cheap. They've successfully, and permanently, moved gas from the $2 range to the $3 range.

One year ago it was $3.55 a gallon.

Gas prices in the Metro have once again dipped below the $3 mark. Some of the lowest gas prices in the state have found their way to stations in and around Omaha. Drivers have been able to fill up for $2.99 a gallon over the past several days. I's not clear how long it will last but according to AAA the Metro average is $3.05 a gallon.

That’s down from $3.13 a week ago, $3.30 a month ago and $3.55 a year ago. Some economists, still thinking a recession is on the way, expect oil prices to drop as demand drops. That would further lower the price at the pump, but other economists still aren’t sold on that recession prediction.

Drivers in Omaha getting relief at the pump as average prices fall

If you live in the Omaha area, you can now find relief at the gas pump. That's because the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded has gone down by about seven cents since this time last week. That's according to AAA data. Drivers can now expect to pay about $3.13 a gallon. Last week, the average price was about $3.20 a gallon. In Council Bluffs, prices are holding steady. Data show average prices have gone down by only a penny since last week. The average price is currently about $3.15 a gallon. Last week, the average price was about $3.16 a gallon.

Yesterday, I paid $3.44 yesterday down here. We were close to $3.10 but it went up quickly over the last week.

It's $2.75/gal at Costco in La Vista this morning or $3.02 at the nearby QuikTrip (I believe those are both E-10).

Omaha’s yo-yoing gas prices continue their off again, on again flirting with 3 dollars a gallon. And at least for now it’s on again. The average price of a gallon of regular in the Metro is now $3.01. A week ago, it was $3.05. A month ago, $3.10.

And significantly down from a year ago when it was $3.80. In addition there are some spots in town where gas is another dime or so cheaper. And some experts tell us in short term prices may drop even further.

On Monday of this week all the stations that I passed by that were at 2.99 in the morning were at 3.19 in the afternoon and are there still as of Thur AM

These gas price fluctuations are getting real old real fast. One day, it’s $2.89 a gallon..then in 24 hours (sometimes overnight) it jumps to $3.49.. then begins to “moderate” within a week to $3.19-$3.29.. before falling then rising again..

It’s a cycle of silliness…

I've mused about that before. Take gas from the $2 range to the $4 range for a while. People freak out. Drop it back to the $3 range and they're thankful. Meanwhile, you just successfully and permanently made $3+ gas the norm.

I paid $2.89 a gallon today at the Amoco- 120th and Pacific..

I wanted to fill up now, before the inevitable price hike to $3.39-$3.49 a gallon. Need to stay ahead of the pattern…
