I know we've talked about this fitness in the MidTown Crossing post recently:

Re: Top 10 America's Fittest Cities
Omaha at 46 out of 100.
That seems right. Middle of the pack for US.
On my fatness scale, I usually rank Omaha as “dumpy.”
We could get out more. Lose a few. But not too bad or anything.

American health trends point to all walks of life being more and more unhealthy in the future. There is no bias in that statement lol. Diabetes, cardiovascular disease, sugar consumption, obesity.... these are just a few things rising.

Usually Denver tops list like these, but they are still in the top 10. Whenever I'm out there I always notice all the people being active, running, walking, etc . And you usually don't see many overweight people. The dry low humidity climate they have is conducive to being outside and being active.

Whenever I'm in Denver, I always think, "GD I need to get in better shape." Is there a single man, woman, or child within 50 miles of Denver with more than 5% body fat?Cermak wrote: Wed Jul 19, 2023 2:02 pm Usually Denver tops list like these, but they are still in the top 10. Since this really isn't "new" you could have also posted this link in the fast food talk thread.
It's not as dry as it used to be and lately Denver has been particularly humid. Also Denver has plenty of overweight folk but they're, of course, not the ones you're seeing out running...and more likely the ones fighting over position in the In & Out Burger drive thru.legato9 wrote: Wed Jul 19, 2023 4:36 pmWhenever I'm in Denver, I always think, "GD I need to get in better shape." A park near downtown Boulder with lone runner. Boulder probably even more than Denver people out getting exercise and enjoying nature. I don't think I've seen an overweight person in Boulder more than a few times.

While there are certainly exceptions, I absolutely have noticed that people in Denver, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Miami, DC and NYC appear much leaner than those in Omaha, KC, Chicago or basically the entire South. The joke I like to tell is that when grabbing my connecting flight to Omaha from any hub airport I don’t have to look at the flight monitors, I just need to find the gate with all the fat people dressed in ball caps and XXL size NU T-shirts.

Re: Top 10 America's Fittest Cities
It's a shame people would rather succumb to their food pleasures, not realizing that gaining weight is part of the health problem. Though they don't realize that chronic conditions can be reversed, including stage 4 cancer. I've had several people that have healed of chronic (incurable) conditions, that doctors can't explain how they did it. All I can say that nature has the answers, which is affordable for all and there is hope but I won't go into detail because many see modern medicine as the only way and besides the medical fact checkers have always been right?nativeomahan wrote: Wed Jul 26, 2023 5:42 pm While there are certainly exceptions, I absolutely have noticed that people in Denver, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Miami, DC and NYC appear much leaner than those in Omaha, KC, Chicago or basically the entire South. It's much easier for people to not take responsibility of their own health and blame genetics, aging as the cause of their chronic conditions; while they themselves are to blame for polluting themselves with what they eat and what they are exposed to prior birth.
It's much easier to hand over our health to the medical, who has every reason to profit and hand out drugs that will mask symptoms, while causing other imbalances that require more drugs, as well as chemotherapy that is brutal, painful, which eventually most patients have free years to live.
We spend so much more on Healthcare as a country, yet we have plenty of sick people that are tied to a lifetime supply of drugs, surgeries, circulatory problems, osteoporosis, low energy, lethargy, mental disturbances, accelerated aging.

What new low nonsense is this?Renovator2559 wrote: Wed Jul 26, 2023 6:53 pm It's a shame people would rather succumb to their food pleasures, not realizing that gaining weight is part of the health problem. Though they don't realize that chronic conditions can be reversed, including stage 4 cancer.
I had a friend that had terminal late stage cancer, and he "miraculously" went into remission when he couldn't afford the care and decided to just smoke as much weed as he could.
Being / staying fit can help a lot of things. But it isn't some miracle cure. And I say this as someone above average fitness in the midwest. I've ridden my bike to Lincoln, I ride often. I can walk 40 miles a day in a new city. I eat well enough, and I avoid |expletive| labelled non-gmo or organic.
I've never had a single health issue beyond a cold and a broken arm. My brother is as fit as I am, or more. Leans towards the organic BS, and has chronic epilepsy.
If tomorrow I discover I have cancer, or a broken arm, eating better isn't going to cure it. Just like it didn't help Steve Jobs.
Living a healthy lifestyle will never hurt you, but don't be a menace to society with untested or worse untestable BS.

Exercise and getting the lympathic system, intersititium, moving and eliminating waste, is part of the system of staying healthy; so that in itself is helping you, I commend you for your efforts in staying active. However if paired with the ingestion of the right electron rich foods and reduction of proton dominant foods (of course this is an oversimplification), will self-heal and a person will remain energetic and youthful for decades; just look at Kelly Ripa and Tom Brady. They know which foods to eat to keep themselves youthful and highly performant over their peers, despite themselves being older. Of course there are many other testimonies and testimonies of people that I have helped heal chronic conditions that could only be managed with a lifetime supply of drugs, they have learned to take care of themselves and they are no longer profits for the medical and pharmaceutical...Athomsfere wrote: Thu Jul 27, 2023 2:38 pm What new low nonsense is this?

The human body is perfect in its design to heal, as long as we provide the right nutrients and reduce those foods that cause degeneration. Bones that are dense and healthy will have a harder time to break, than bones that have been compromised do to our dietary choices in the long term. Even mental disorders are within our control to heal.
All I can say, is that there is hope but going into detail doesn't appear to be the best course of action here, as there is a time and place for that. Also, you should follow the experts and follow the FDA guidelines, medical institutions because they are doing it for your own good and brand everything I say on this topic at hand, as BS and move on.

I have no clue who either of those are.
Not even close. The human body isn't designed at all, there was no engineer making the body run as long as possible. Instead there were just pressures to reproduce more than we die.
Exactly as I will do. I will trust doctors, scientists and statisticians over snake oil sales-people who are floating unverified gut feelings, that also have the benefit of making them rich.Renovator2559 wrote: Thu Jul 27, 2023 6:00 pm Also, you should follow the experts and follow the FDA guidelines, medical institutions

My understanding in health is not profitable at all... As I have said, you should follow the approved doctors, scientists and statisticians, the FDA and disregard the other scientists, doctors, statisticians that present a different view.Athomsfere wrote: Thu Jul 27, 2023 7:54 pm Exactly as I will do. So you're some sort of holistic healer now?
