Me and my dad camp outside Estes Park once or twice a year. I saw one once at the iconic Estes Park welcome sign, a whole bunch of people walking up near it. Don't know how it ended up cause I left. Then in more of a wilderness setting, my dad saw one galloping down a hill immediately in front of him.

They seem stupid, and clumsy, and big, but they are sure defensive.

A mountain lion was recorded by a home security video at 4:15 a.m. near I-80 and Q Street and was reported to Game and Parks.

2) this is like the 3rd one in recent memory. the last one was killed near millard a few years ago if i remember right.
3) they are coming from somewhere; it may be becoming clear there's a breeding population somewhere near enough to Omaha that they have started to come down this way. I wonder from where?

Yeah, it was cornered just a few blocks west up Q street across I-80 at the Mosaic building.

This is what interests me the most, where is the breeding population that these wanderers are coming from? I know that they're apt to travel hundreds and hundreds of miles by themselves, but I wonder what the case is here.

Funny you say that. My wife claims she saw a turkey running through the front yard when we lived in the Benson area. This was quite a few years ago, but I always like to retell the story as if she was crazy. HA!

Deep in the wilds of South Omaha (50th and Grover area) I have encountered deer, turkey, and fox. It's wild out there!

This evening, I was siting outside on my flat top patio driveway enjoying an adult beverage, and a red tailed fox sashayed right by me.. Once he saw me, he picked up the pace and ran into the elementary school field across the street..

And former State Sen. Ernie Chambers — who during his 46 years in the Legislature tried to outlaw the hunting of mountain lions in the state — said it’s times like this that he wishes he was still in office. He said he’d be pressuring Nebraska Game and Parks and area police officials to seek national expertise on how to capture the animal alive, and without a messy ending. ending. “If that lion was of a mind to kill anybody and eat anybody in Omaha it would have been done,” said Chambers. “Mountain lions are very shy. Anybody seen peacocks in the city anymore? I remember once a long time ago, maybe 15 years or so, I saw a group of them it was either rockbrook park or regency park. But I've never seen any since.

This summer, one of the local TV stations ran a story on the abundance of Peacocks in the neighborhood around 50th and Grover St. Residents in that neighborhood were complaining about what a noise nuisance they are…

there is a pack of them roaming around the west end of CB. It's understandable if they are in fields or areas near the river, but to be in residential neighborhoods seems odd. Animal control isn't worried about it though
