Barrel & Vine

Post by iamjacobm »

Apparently, we didn't have a thread for this place? I couldn't find it.

Anyway, heard it's closing this week and that Let It Fly will take the space.

It’s in a thread for the whole development, not a stand alone thread.

I feel this was definitely covered at some point. My wife went to their rooftop pool this summer.

I heard it had changed owners AFTER that was in the news... I can't speak from personal experience, I don't think I've ever had that happen to me.

I've been there once - I enjoyed it, thought the place looked nice, only had some appeteezers, think it was St Patty's Day.

I never understood what the purpose of having a pool on the roof was. Do the renters at the apartments nearby use it?

Anyway, that's a pretty big space. What's "Let it Fly"?

I used to drive for Uber, and thinking back on that, along with what others have said, I realized my most intoxicated female riders tended to be from there. Probably not an accurate read on things, but in hindsight…

Someone put in a comment section the other day that they had an incident report that someone was dealing drugs out of there as well and an undercover cop caught them. This was 8/11/23. Not sure if it's connected to the permanent closure. There was no indication if this was an employee or a patron. I'm assuming patron. Just seems like dark clouds always surrounded this place and it felt like it was a college frat party of women getting drugged, selling drugs, heavy intoxication, and as a business everyone said it was terrible food and just a bad scene.

The only good that I heard about this place was the Instagram pool for Bachelorette parties.

The West O crowd will not go to a place that is not safe. When Blackstone had their problem this spring, the college kids still went as it was the place to be. Last weekend 3 girls told me about a bad experience with a drink that was given to them the week before. Yep, they were going back to that same bar in the 10th and Capital area. Unfortunately college kids will take the chance if there's a good party.

WOWT says $16 million is debt…

Mallory says that never happened.

He also alleges that the holding company is more than $16 million in debt.

Oh my god, what a fool. If it was such a slam dunk, they wouldn’t have offered that instead of paying the bill….

$800k in concrete work alone? Was the entire building one big pour?

Omaha Drag Brunch one of the many affected by Barrel & Vine closing

ELKHORN, Neb. (KMTV) — The Omaha Drag Brunch used Barrel & Vine's space for drag performances for almost two years. A venue they used often. That's why they say they were surprised to hear the news about the abrupt closing. Cecelia Jernberg is just one of the many people left in limbo. She owns Queens Entertainment, which runs the brunch. She's forced to look for a new home base for performances, something she said has taken a deep financial and mental toll on her.
