Malara's Italian Restaurant

We only ate once at Malara's Restaurant, and that was on the last day they were open last April. My wife and I thought they had the best tasting pasta noodles we had ever had. Does anybody know of another restaurant that has great tasting pasta?

Pasta Amore comes to mind. We also enjoy Spezia. To me the key to a great pasta dish isn’t so much the actual pasta but the sauce and veggies and proteins contained therin.

We loved Malara's - my wife thought the inside was a bit depressing which I can understand considering it was a house that was converted into a restaurant and really never updated. At the same time I thought it kinda had an "old market" feel because of that.

She did like the food - I thought their lasagna was probably the best in Omaha after Grisantis had closed down. The noodles (lasagna and their others) were all homemade and I agree they tasted amazing. I mean as amazing as a noodle can taste!

We do like Spezia, however that place floors me because they don't even offer a lasagna. To me if you're going to be an Italian restaurant then you should have lasagna. To this day I can't believe they don't offer it. BTW, Spezia is another one of those places that hasn't been updated in forever (at least not as of the last time we were there about a year ago). They do not give me the "old market" feels... they have more of a late 1970's-early 1980's atmosphere that has never changed.

The Lasagna at Cascio’s is pretty legit…

Malara's spaghetti was so good because it was made fresh, not out of a box and boiled.

She did like the food - I thought their lasagna was probably the best in Omaha after Grisantis had closed down. The noodles (lasagna and their others) were all homemade and I agree they tasted amazing. I mean as amazing as a noodle can taste!

The lasagna at Grisanti's was made ahead of time, warmed to order in a microwave, and then cheese melted/browned in an oven and then served.
