I think they are still stripping the place down.
Think they'll need to take the top off and replace the roof? lol

No, I heard it said that there were a couple of good poles holding it all up!

$1000 for an annual "membership" WOW

There are a lot of reasons I will not be in the market for one, but near the top of this list is the "I wonder if they will be around for a year?"

Hey, you guys just all need to "text Lottie" for more details.

My guess is the creep that runs that place off 120th & Center is the same creep running this place.

Hey, at least they have flexible hours - Wed-Sun 8pm to 4am.

I'm guessing it's a "BYOB" so they don't require a liquor license? And they open in about 10 days. This is going to go over really, REALLY well with west Omaha moms. 🤣

No way there are enough people in the market for a $1k annually strip club membership to keep it financially viable. There is money out there, but some of it is very heavily mortgaged and house poor. And, people just don't frequent these places like that. I think club omaha tried starting out with a similar model and now are just open to the public for a fee. This sounds like the kind of place that will be a front for drug sales or something because they will have a handful of people in there each night. Is it by the same people that were involved with Barrel and Vine? lol.

Good points - Barrel and Vine have anything to do with Club Omaha? I could see them forming a partnership of snorts, hmm hmm, I mean sorts.

Hey, at $1000 year that breaks down to a mere $2.73/day which is significantly less than the proposed $20/daily fee. I don't think you're seeing the value in the annual membership.

Better hurry though - they probably only sell a limited # of yearly subscriptions/memberships/etc.

I know several people that go to the nail salon in that strip due to friends, family, etc - they are not thrilled. I wonder if the Goodwill next door will pickup a lot more business from guys trying to buy disguises before they go into the new club?

And, to be clear, I'm the absolute furthest from caring about what people do in their free time. I like anything that upsets uptight West O people. I just think this comes off as an "elevated" form of douchebaggery from the website alone. So, I'm torn. Kind of want them to make the moms uncomfortable, but also fail. Not sure which side I'm on.

Well, I hope they don't take their family to eat at the Denny's on 84th. Otherwise, one of their kids may inquire what the Adam & Eve store next door sells.

I've never understood this pearl clutching. Like, the vast majority of high schoolers have phones which have access to the internet which...has porn! omg! As if there is anything going on in a strip club that would show high schoolers something new.

Agreed. It's a building that they're not allowed access into. How does it's mere presence in the vicinity have any effect on anyone? It's not like the dancers are walking from their car to the building already stripped down to nothing. It's not like they're going to be dancing in the front windows. Heck, you'd get more of a shock walking your kids through the French Quarter in New Orleans in the middle of the afternoon. Nobody seem to care there was a bar there and on any busy night there was probably public drunkenness on display in the parking lot. I'm always amused at the "sins" we ignore and the ones we get upset about.

It's not pearl clutching bro and I know high schoolers can see porn, we had playboys in my day too. It's been shown that areas around gentleman's clubs have higher rates of violent crime. Just saying you think you'd want to limit that risk around schools. But the sarcasm was super helpful thanks

lol, "bro". Too bad that link only shows the abstract and not a full article; would probably be interesting to read. Though, this looks at the county level impact and not the more immediate local level to which you're trying to apply this conclusion.

But hey, I'm sure a bar serving a |expletive| ton of alcohol across the street was way safer. Same for all the alleged drug use and date rape at Barrel & Vine next to Elkhorn South. Glad you're thinking of the children though.

I was originally more trying to be a smartass but I linked that since you posted back being an |expletive|. categorizing it as pearl clutching was just dumb.

Also you can click the DOI link for the study, and yes, like all studies not perfect and has limitations (they acknowledged they would have liked to get better geo data).

Anyway, everyone back to your conversation, I'll go back to lurking. Hope you get a lot for your $1,000 a year investment, should be better than the Speartmint Rhino.

Every time I drive by Spearmint I think of Double Mint gum. Is that weird?

To each their own - everyone can do as they please and if these places are legal then that's all that matters (they follow the law and rules). I would have to say that Spearmint Rhino being on the main "drag" from the airport to Omaha is quite the unfortunate first impression people get to take in when visiting our city. I'd like to think of us as more than just "high quality gentleman's clubs".

'Not a good fit':
City of Omaha trying to prevent strip club off 180th and Q

MILLARD, Neb. — The City of Omaha is putting pressure on a strip club advertising its opening night online, but officials have struggled to get a hold of who is exactly behind the business. The city attorney says the strip club, Club180, is allowed in a strip mall off 180th and Q Streets because of zoning codes. But city officials say the strip mall tenant never pulled a permit for construction, which the city could use to press its prevention. Signs of construction have been observed by neighboring tenants since Two Fine Irishmen bar closed late October.

I'm not sure if the news channel didn't do more due diligence or if it's really as shady as the seem to imply... but I find it weird no one seems to know how to reach the owner of the property. It has to be relatively easy to track that down, right? It's not like Two Fine closed without letting the property owner know and then secretly agreed to let this Club180 place come in and take over. I was surprised to hear it's supposedly not affiliated with Club Omaha whatsoever. Not sure if that's good or bad - I know they've had issues with the patrons at that place on Center. Regardless of the type of business (to each their own), it does suck that they're trying to open this literally down the row from a montessori and right behind another day care in the strip where Little Caesars pizza is.

The developers must think it can do well there. When I was in Houston they had strip clubs in nice areas. They aren’t always in shady parts of towns.

IMO, a school (ie, Millard West) isn't a concern - maybe I shouldn't be "concerned" at all. But if it's 2 doors away from a daycare I think that's a little shady. Picking up your son/daughter at 5:45pm and watching people going into a strip club (particular employees that may come dressed ready to go on a pole) might not be a great experience for the little kids.

As I said, I personally don't have issues with the business - or the overall location/neighborhood/part of Omaha. Actually I imagine something like this could succeed quite well. But being in a freestanding building away from some of the other businesses nearby could be better placement.

Obviously whoever is opening the place doesn't even want to talk about it - they hung up on the news. Also, if they honestly didn't pull permits to do any reno work that's dumb. If they're smart enough to know they could be under a microscope for the type of business then they should know someone is likely watching them. You can't tear out a wall, move an electrical outlet, etc without a permit if you're planning on trying to run a business.

You can tell the website was tossed together on GoDaddy or elsewhere - not much effort has been put into their big reveal. They're not doing themselves any favors by intentionally trying to skirt the process.

I dunno. Like I said, nobody cares that there's like three bars in that same plaza. So, why be concerned about young children (who don't care and won't take note of it anyway) seeing employees arrive at a strip club (and, for security, they're usually extremely cautious and low-key about arriving and leaving), but not be equally concerned about those same children seeing inebriated people coming and going from one of the bars?

A scantily clad person walking into a bar on a Friday night? That's cool. An obnoxious drunk walking out of the bar and shouting profanities at their buddies? That's cool. In fact, it's so cool that we'll allow three bars here. A dancer arriving for work in plain clothes and customers coming and going from a private club with a door guard? Get the pitch forks and torches!!! lol

The Karens will have to put down their copy of 50 Shades of Grey and fire off some emails. These are the same NIMBYs that ate at Twin Peaks.

Exactly what I was thinking. Says a ton about our society and our conservative state in particular, that there is less concern over someone walking out of a bar, maybe drunk, and getting into a car to drive while you pick up your kids from daycare than someone arriving to work in plain clothes or a patron walking in a door. alcohol and inebriation is just fine, but anything on the adult side is an affront to the children. gotta think about the children. yeah, that's it.

I would have to say that Spearmint Rhino being on the main "drag" from the airport to Omaha is quite the unfortunate first impression people get to take in when visiting our city. I'd like to think of us as more than just "high quality gentleman's clubs".
I drove Abbott three times over the Thanksgiving Weekend and if I didn't know the SR was 'over there', I would never have seen it otherwise. So I don't think it's anyone's first, second, or third impression of the Omaha/Council Bluffs/Carter Lake metroplex.

I think Lakeside Auto should move its dragon sculpture over to the corner of Abbott and Locust. Now *there's* dynamic advertising!

With Oakview Mall announcing new ownership and the new owner stating that Entertainment is a big part of the future of the mall, maybe this new establishment should look there for the location! ;)

Ha, funny you should say that as I just posted under that convo.

They'd have a lot of room to provide their entertainment - plus there is already existing broken neon and a lot of 1990's type deco in place. Seems to me to be a no-brainer.
