Stothert said there is a big celebration in the works and that she hoped the belt buckle from the Dallas mayor arrived in time for it. Has anyone heard anything on what the celebration will be?

"he was trapped in there with Bud Crawford" man, that's pretty baller.

Having eminem announce his walkout after Terence came out of the tunnel by himself was fire. I felt like he won the match already with that entrance.

Omaha parade in the works to celebrate Terence 'Bud' Crawford
Carrie Murphy, deputy chief of staff for Mayor Jean Stothert, said Monday that the Mayor’s Office “will have details soon on a citywide parade and celebration.” The Mayor’s Office started coordinating with Crawford Sunday on his availability, Murphy said.

One at CHI would be awesome, either right up front or somewhere in the arena.

Maybe that corner on 10th and Capitol where there’s that circular cement space with the path leading to the arena?

That would be pretty cool, ngl. Especially since many of his "early" fights were held there. Good times.

A statue based on this pose would be pretty cool. Also didn't realize during the fight that his trunks had the fish net on them too.

I have another nominee for the future statute. It's from his first fight at (then) Centurylink Center; his first title defense against Gamboa. It's one of his most memorable fights. I think what he did that night in front of the hometown fans, really sky rocketed him popularity locally. It was a tough fight and they both put on a show, but I nominate Crawford's right uppercut in the southpaw position that finished Gamboa as the moment. It shows his ability to fight from both stances (he actually back stepped from orthodox to southpaw while dodging Gamboa's lunging strikes), his natural power in both hands, and, I think, one of his signature punches, the uppercut. And that was a moment for his career and for Omaha. That's my nomination.

I am having a hard time finding the right angle, but this is a shot of that punch:

The city of Omaha will honor Terence "Bud" Crawford with a parade and celebration.

The parade on Aug. 12 will start at 10 a.m. at 19th and Farnam streets and end at Gene Leahy Mall. Stothert said the city will cover the majority of the estimated $80,000-100,000 cost, with business partners helping sponsor. Participants in the parade will be invitation only for Crawford's team, according to Stothert.

late into this discussion, but that was an awesome fight to watch. Learning more on the back end though, Spence probably should never really be cleared to fight after his accident and kind of plays into the seediness of boxing overall. Dude should be retired after the crash he sustained. Still, take nothing away from Crawford. It was like watching one guy playing checkers and the other playing chess. not even on the same level.

Looking forward to the parade and will try to make it. And yes, in time a statue probably makes sense. I think that's a longer term discussion probably for 10-20 years from now though.

Regarding Spence's accident, it's a valid concern, but he's had too fights since his accident where he looked "100%". His beating of Ugas last year was Spence back in full form, supposedly. Maybe his prep was not perfect this time around, weight cut perfect, ring rust, he was high (I have read and heard it all post fight; "look at his eyes, bruh"), etc. but Crawford exploited the holes that Spence displayed even pre-accident, including excessive lunging on punches leading to susceptibility of getting thrown off balance (see Porter fight). From all accounts the accident was horrendous, but Spence suffered "only" lacerations and miraculously no broken bones. If he shouldn't have fought Crawford, then he should not have fought Danny Garcia and Ugas, and he really shouldn't have been able to beat Ugas so badly.

Top Flight Fitness gives local adults a fighting chance

In Treven Coleman’s fitness class, the expectation is 110% effort. Coleman, owns Top Flight Fitness, and holds classes at Terrance "Bud" Crawford’s B&B Sports Academy in North Omaha. The former boxer’s workouts are not for the weak. “I just loved the atmosphere of working out,” said Coleman. “I knew that the community needed it as well.” He’s sharing his passion to get others excited about embracing a healthier lifestyle. “I had friends who were young taking high blood pressure medicine and things of that nature so I just felt it was a necessity for us to have fitness inside of our community,” said Coleman. Coleman pulls no punches.

We were at the parade, which was a lot of fun, but didn't stay around for the celebration. Didn't know the City offered land to Crawford and crew for an expansion. That's awesome. Here is the land north of B&B that I think the City is conveying to Crawford. Hope their gym continues to grow and help more kids.

Wonder how they will connect those two parcels since someone else owns the former Missouri Pacific Belt Line land that's in between the two pieces?

I did some digging and the registered owner's address of that land separating B&B and the City's Lot is North Omaha LLC. Address is 2702 Douglas. Thanks right, Legacy Group building. If you do a state business search, the registered agent was David Paladino. I wonder if Crawford's group can work out a purchase of a partial parcel of land to connect the two lots. I wonder who is run the Paladino empire now?

B&B Sports Academy gets ready for their Pancake Feed Fundraiser

About 125 lucky kids get the opportunity to be apart of the B&B sports academy founded by Terrance "Bud" Crawford and Brian “BoMac” McIntyre. The organization is working with the community to get closer to their goal of expanding the facility. In 2017 the B&B Sports Academy opened to the community as a way to encourage kids to get active and stay out of trouble.

It's official, next bout will be for the WBA Junior Middleweight belt against Israil Madrimov on August 3. It's being put together by Saudi Arabia, specifically Turki Alashikh, who's already put together heavyweight super fights Wilder-Parker and Joshua-Ngannou and the upcoming Fury-Usyk. This is likely a big payout for Crawford. Not as much as those heavyweights, but it will be big. Fight is in Los Angeles at BMO Stadium. It will be a tough match, so hope training goes well and good luck to the champ! If he takes this, Fundora for the WBC and WBO belts could be next, then the vacant IBF. Could lead to a clash with Jermell Charlo as well, if Charlo gets one or some of those belts back.

Slightly off topic for this this thread, but a number of restaurants in PV are hosting watch parties for the Crawford-Canelo fight tomorrow night, including one of my favorite neighborhood spots, BarbaCow. It’s kinda cool to see a local Omaha guy receiving so much publicity in México.

Crawford was looking really good tonight. So much so that it looked like Canelo was acting like there's no need to grab his arm for the official announcement since he knew there was no question Bud won.

And the post fight interview compared him to the greatest boxers ever.

He now has four belts. And another $10m. Might be a great time to retire.
