I guess it depends on how the term “craft beer” is defined. Some craft beers are purchased by larger companies that then take their distribution nationwide, or beyond. The beer recipe doesn’t necessarily change.
I find Goose Island (I think they started out as a Chicago area based beer company) and Deschutes (out of Oregon if I recall correctly) sold at the large la Comer grocery chain down the street from our home in México.

I distributed Deschutes when they entered the market in like 2013 or so. Without any doubt, they were my favorite brewery to rep. Incredible beer, incredible working culture, and incredible people. Visited the brewery multiple times over the years for work and would go back in a heartbeat just for kicks.

Two years later, he and his two partners — two marines and a member of the U.S. Navy — have no doubt.

Corn Coast Brewing is expanding its south Lincoln operation, while also planning to open a second taproom — this one in Omaha — sometime next spring.

And just in case proof of their product was needed, Corn Coast recently secured two silver medals at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, a competition that annually draws more than 10,000 entries from all over the country.

Not bad for something that started as a father-son activity.

FYI, there is a Corn Coast thread in the Lincoln section.

Their Citra Soaker, Double Sabro Slap, Prairie Fog, Mosaic Slap and Double Mosaic Slap are all great beers!

They have so many other beers I have never tried.

I was in Western Nebraska and managed to hit up Flyover in Scottsbluff and both Pals and Peg Leg in North Platte. I was going to try Bolo in Valentine, but I was there Monday/Tuesday and they're only open Wednesday through Saturday.

Sounds like a good tirp. I am never in North Platte at the right time of day to hit their breweries. I stayed right next door to Peg Leg on my last trip, but it was midnight before I got to my room and the brewery was already closed.

Bolo is worth a visit if you are up that way. They were originally in the back of a restaurant, but these days they have their own building a few blocks east of where they started. I hope to get back up there again, later this summer.

Flyover was pretty popular. Nice place inside and located in downtown Scottsbluff. It's about as urban as you can be in the Nebraska panhandle. It doubles as a pizzeria (a common theme with breweries). I didn't get to try a lot of their brews, but I enjoyed their Damn Yankees New England IPA. Also, we had dinner at Powerhouse Social which was serving up a beer that Flyover crafted just for them called Powerhouse Amber.

Pals is sort of south of North Platte (the bulk of North Platte is on the north side of I-80 while Pals is a mile or so south of I-80 in the middle of nowhere). However, it's fairly spacious and popular with the locals. It felt a bit overstaffed. We were laughing at how ridiculously often someone was stopping by the table to ask it we needed anything. Still, it beats the opposite problem. Though, all that staffing is an indicator of how busy they can get. They too sell food; it's mostly pizza. I tried a couple of their IPAs, their Irish Red, and their version of a Dunkel. All were good. I try to stick to the limited releases when I'm at the brewery as I figure I can get the other stuff anywhere (assuming they're being distributed).

Peg Leg was the smallest of the breweries I went to. They're in a fairly simple building. Though, I will say it feels more like a brewery tasting room and less like a restaurant/bar as the previous two. They have some snacks on hand, but it's mostly beer. The owner was wandering around. He has a fake leg. Hence their name. lol I tried their IPA, Hazyd Out IPA, and Roggenbier. All were tasty. I would have probably stuck around longer, but some d-bag sat down next to me. They have a great location being right off of I-80 nestled amongst some hotels.

It was fun checking them out. Unfortunately, our journey began on a Monday and it seems a lot of these smaller Nebraska breweries just aren't open for tasters that early in the week or we were on a time crunch. Otherwise, I would have hit up a few others (like Bolo, West Point, and Brewery 719).

That's what I have been told. Looking at their website and Facebook, it appears so.

Their website says "Our name pays homage to a brewery that existed in West Point from 1891-1893 called West Point Brewing Co, which became West Point Brewing Association in 1893. They closed in 1917."

Yep, unfortunately they closed at the end of the year. It was far and away the most scenic location of any brewery in Nebraska. The cabins and campground are still open.

Not sure if any of you have tried some of the beers produced in Grand Island. Their downtown is kind of fun to wander around, in addition to their breweries. Kinkaider Brewery and Prairie Pride Brewery are both downtown. The Chicken Coop Bar and restaurant downtown is supposedly an outlet for Thunderhed beers in GI. McKinney’s Irish Pub also has tasty brews on tap, though they are not a brewery. Their food is good, too. A number of Asian and Mexican restaurants and bars have recently opened downtown as well. It a fun area to explore just 2 hours west of Omaha.

Been to all those places. Prairie Pride is the only beer made in Grand Island, all the others are just tap rooms. Kinkaider has good food too. Thunderhead is meh, I’d much rather go to prairie pride.

I have been to Divots for both food and brew. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was expecting more. It wasn't an " I will not go back" but also wasn't "Man, I need to plan another stop.

We went to Kinkaider in Broken Bow as a spontaneous road trip back in 2016. It was an enjoyable drive and visit. Also, if you're a geography geek, then the geographic center of Nebraska is nearby (41.525000, -99.861667) and there is (or at least there was in 2016) a geocache at it if you're into that.

Kearney/Lexington would be a good destination for a beer trip. You could camp in either place and easily hit up Mac's Creek, Canyon Lakes, Lost Way, Thunderhead, Upper Room, and Platte Valley.

There's a couple of old WWII Army Airfields in south-central Nebraska I keep meaning to check out. I'll have to see if I can blend the two excursions.

Seems like every brewery has at least one beer I like. I know I like their corduroy ninja and their poor farm porter, but I am hoping to sample more and see what else I might like. Their brewer friended me several years ago on Facebook, and hoping to meet him in person too.

I keep thinking I will catch Upper Room Brewery during my annual sandhill crane trip, but so far I haven't been able to make that work. Upper Room Brewery has short hours 4-9 or 4-10, not ideal for good crane photography. Platte Valley is just a tap room and not a brewery. Been to Thunderhead several times, but prefer a coupe other non-brewery locations in Kearney over Thunderhead, Like McCue's and Cunningham's.

41 - Second Chapter Brewing in Ogalala
- Located in a former library

42 - Flyover Brewing in Scotts Bluff
- Great space in Downtown Scottsbluff with a nice food menu too.

43 - Boss City Brewing in Sidney
- Started in the back of a Sam and Louie's pizza and now have a Beautiful Space in Downtown Sidney

44 - Brewery 719 in Alliance
- The least polished of the 7, had much more of a grass roots homebrew feel.

45 - Pals Brewing in North Platte
- Just outside North Platte, big place with an outdoor music venue and volleyball court.

46 - Apeship Brewing in North Platte
- Just opened in Downtown North Platte, has a small food menu. Bar is made out of an old boat.

47 - Peg Leg Brewing in North Platte.
- Nice space out by the Hotels on the east interchange. Serve pizza by the slice too.

I usually see it at Wall to Wall on 132 and Center. I’m sure Wine Beer and Spirits on 144 and Center would have it too. That said the new big chain places don’t seem to carry as much local stuff. Bakers and Family Fare also don’t seem to have the same selection as most HyVee stores when it comes to local beer.

Roc Hopper Brewing announced they are closing.

That's too bad, its a super nice space and they had some good beers and food. First time we went there it was the middle of the afternoon. It wasn't packed but had a decent crowd for the middle of the afternoon. Second time we went was last month. It was a Saturday night and the place was full.

On that note, cider is essentially apple wine vs being brewed like beer. I realize that there aren’t that many cideries/wineries in the state vs dedicated breweries but maybe at least include that in the thread title? And maybe their own sub section?

Nothing to lose sleep over like the snobs on beeradvocate would but separating them out might also be useful for those looking for non-beer like the gluten free folks.

Also is Soaring Wings still brewing beer? I recall their Pils being pretty good.

Sorry, but that's just a gross misstatement of the situation.... Roc Hopper isn't closing. Ben and Katy just want to sell it, as they're moving to Lincoln (his full time gig is as a Dr, and he's moved from working in Techumseh at the hospital to a primary care office in Lincoln), and it would be too much to keep their daily involvement in...

Could it eventually come to the point where there are no buyers and they end up shutting it down? Yes, but there's nothing in their statement on FB (or this real estate listing) that says their intent is to shut it down...
