It's like combining all Harry Potter fans, Dungeons and Dragons fans and board game enthusiasts into the same place. It's probably better than getting an Apple store, to TBH. I wouldn't be surprised if the LEGO store does more volume than Apple's store in VP.

To clarify, this is going in the location that had the widow covering on it before. When it was a rumor it was referenced as next to Tecovas. This announcement says next to Vinyard Vines. These two are on either side of the open bay that had the window covering in the photo

I am surprised that if it's going into the exact space that had all of the marketing materials plastered on the windows why wouldn't they leave that up until it's closer to being opened? It's like they wanted to tell ppl "hey, there's probably a LEGO store going in right here" but then they said no, we don't want you to think that any longer. Must be a Danish thing.

I will go with my original theory that they got the material sent, and someone jumped the gun in putting it up while negotiations were still ongoing. No statement was made and over time they just took it down since the deal was not closed yet.

Not that anyone was doubting the news about the LEGO store coming to NEX as it was on Grow Omaha... However I happened to visit the NEX website this morning and they have it listed as a tenant already (coming soon)...

Not sure if it's intended for public knowledge at this point in time but let's just say I think there will be many pleased people in the Omaha area later this year!

What I personally would say is I'm surprised that, assuming this is in fact 100% true, why Des Moines would be announced to the public, in the media, etc but not here.

Want to explain to everyone how there is absolutely no paper trail at the City of Gretna or Sarpy County for a new construction project that is supposed to open this summer? If that were true the site would be publicly known by now, as would a plan for the structure. Depending on the scope and scale of the project, site preparation would likely already be occurring or might even be completed. At this stage (mid February), the construction company involved would even be known. Permitting would be going on. Some of the necessary materials would be on site or arriving.

A Lego store might very well end up out at Nebraska Crossing, sometime, but anybody telling you it is evolved to the point one would be opening this summer is sniffing glue. I guess a genie is involved that would just bob her head and make this all just magically appear, I guess?

nex's site isn't lego. Nor is a user group on facebook.

Grow Omaha is probably the strongest lead. And when that supposed official announcement coming soon happens, that's a good solid move.

LEGO doesn't post future stores unless they're extremely close to opening. I imagine everyone on here would agree that the Des Moines LEGO store is 100% thing based upon what people have heard and there are zero stores listed on LEGO's site in Iowa.

IMO, if NEX put it up, I feel 99.9% confident it's happening. They could get sued by LEGO if it wasn't accurate information... at the very least, LEGO could certainly request a cease and desist for misinformation. Regardless of what people may think, I know LEGO well enough based upon past interactions that I can about guarantee they would not let inaccurate information float around.

NEX wouldn't open themselves up to the pandering and hassle from LEGO corporate if it wasn't true.

Regardless, everyone is entitled to believe what they'd like. I guess when the doors open all of the naysayers will be happy. (or, not happy because they could care less about LEGO coming to market but they won't be able to gripe about the fact it's not definitive).

Anyone happen to walk by the future LEGO store at NEX lately? The LEGO store website still doesn't list it as "coming soon", which isn't shocking as they have no "coming soon" stores listed as of right now. We obviously know about Des Moines getting one this year as well, but nothing mentioned on LEGO's site.

I wanted to see if anyone has been able to peek their head inside and snap any pics? Last time I was there the doors were locked. Guess they don't want random people wandering in off the streets, LOL. I would have asked someone about it but the bay had no one there (It was a Saturday).

I would also like to ask about this poster as I imagine by now something has to have been pulled for this bay, whether it's under LEGO's brand name or someone else. Since it's been confirmed by everyone and construction has started, this can no longer be accurate information.

I was at the Mall and walked by a week ago. Can't see in the store since the graphic from a few months back is back on the glass and door.

After I was there I looked at the LEGO site too and saw that they are not listed yet

Nice! I had heard that on a LEGO Facebook group. I imagine Omaha can't be too far behind, granted when they say "late summer" that could mean sometime in September. Hard to say how far along the interior work is on the NEX bay. Regardless, it should be moving along and will be here soon! Pretty exciting that our market landed one of these.

I noticed this as well - the day I posted the screengrab of the "coming soon" listing for Nebraska they also had SEVERAL other "coming soon" stores posted. For whatever reason, LEGO went in and wiped almost all of them from the website, only leaving a select few.

I imagine it had to do with how soon the store(s) would be opening? Maybe they didn't want it sitting in a "coming soon" state for 3-4 months. heck, I have no idea how they're thinking. Shoot, knowing the issues NEX has as far as ownership and finances I was thinking maybe LEGO even pulled the store altogether.

I no longer pay for access to the World Herald's online news site so I couldn't read the story they posted yesterday. I see the link to the Kearney article seems to be the same piece. Nothing exciting mentioned, aside from the target open date. I wonder what the "new window graphics" are comprised of because the story's pic of the bay seems to show the same stickers I took a pic of a couple of months ago.

Of course I would like to see the store open - I think it's an awesome catch for our market and the location puts it in a pretty convenient location for Lincoln (and perhaps even Grand Island) residents.

FYI, finally can clear the air for any doubters of the LEGO store as I find it highly unlikely they would advertise NEX opening a location if it wasn't true FWIW, they also have the Jordan Creek store listed in Iowa along with several other new locations throughout the country.

The funny thing is that on the Lego site, the Nebraska store coming soon that was showing is not listed as of this AM

I noticed this as well - the day I posted the screengrab of the "coming soon" listing for Nebraska they also had SEVERAL other "coming soon" stores posted. For whatever reason, LEGO went in and wiped almost all of them from the website, only leaving a select few.

I imagine it had to do with how soon the store(s) would be opening? Maybe they didn't want it sitting in a "coming soon" state for 3-4 months. heck, I have no idea how they're thinking. Shoot, knowing the issues NEX has as far as ownership and finances I was thinking maybe LEGO even pulled the store altogether.

I no longer pay for access to the World Herald's online news site so I couldn't read the story they posted yesterday. I see the link to the Kearney article seems to be the same piece. Nothing exciting mentioned, aside from the target open date. I wonder what the "new window graphics" are comprised of because the story's pic of the bay seems to show the same stickers I took a pic of a couple of months ago.

Of course I would like to see the store open - I think it's an awesome catch for our market and the location puts it in a pretty convenient location for Lincoln (and perhaps even Grand Island) residents.

If you remember, back to when you posted the opening soon screenshot, I believe I mentioned that I had looked a day or two before, and it wasn't there. I wonder how long it was really up.

As for the window graphics. I think they are the same and have not changed, but I have not been out there in a little over a week. Guessing that statement, along with the photo used, was old archive info.

I saw this first on the OWH site and was able to read some of it before I got the login. Found the same thing on the Kearney Paper site and didn't get the login at all until the second time I tried to open the link

Rod Yates mentioned the window graphics have been changed, so I wonder if that does mean something different than in the pic. If they did change it over to something like "opening soon" etc, then I'd have a warm fuzzy about it at least.

At this point, I'd still say it's questionable knowing how that shopping center is.

Guess I'll cross my fingers and hope it happens as mentioned.

I will try and swing by and check it out and report back for the inquiring minds!

I can confirm that, in fact, the window graphics have been updated.

Other than having the doors open, it can't be much more of a "done deal" than that. There was one big-time denier on here regarding the store... I think they kinda bowed out once there was mention of the actual location on LEGO's own website.

It would be cool to peek inside to see how the progress is coming along, but you've done your due diligence (LOL). Thanks for the update, BTW - it's not as exciting as watching the Mutual tower grow in height, but it's still cool, nonetheless.

I'm excited - even if I only visit it a handful of times, this is the kind of store that will likely never close (unless something REALLY bad happened to the economy) and they stay on good terms with the property owner (I'll correct that by saying assuming Rod Yates stays on good terms with LEGO). On a much smaller scale, it's kinda like winning an IKEA at some point. LEGO fans are very committed to the brand and will definitely support the location.

Perhaps a store like this will help Yates with his intentions of growing his development further and attracting other new-to-market names.

I did try to get a glimpse inside, but the window cover was tied to the metal, and I could not find a place to even get a peek.

This is a good get for the continued success of the mall. As for Yates, it always takes to too butt heads, but I think that Yates is demanding and holds to what he believes the contracts are. There is demand for space and nothing sits empty for too long at Nebraska Crossing.

When this was first rumored I stated to follow a Local lego group on Facebook and the excitement there is over the top.
