i really like that vantage point. It will be great to see mutual from there...but it'd be cool if we could do something about the barbed wire and razor wire

My favorite view as of the current state of Omaha's skyline. Is the view coming from i29N, turning onto i480W. It's the perfect view, that has most buildings lined up in stature with FNBO at the center.
I swear this is probably the most challenging angle to take pictures of

You mean like these? These are fresh from yesterday night.
Some truck and train action going on here

Yours are good angles too, of course our phone cameras are ok , mine are also phone camera quality, but that's why we have our professional photographers with proper cameras to take our most cherished, flawless postcard perfect pictures of Omaha. Still it's nice to see people posting their snapshot in time!

I can get in on the fun. I know we've probably all been here, but I took a couple photos from the whale carcass a few months ago. I don't do a bunch of hanging out Downtown, occasionally I'll drive through, but this was from the first time in forever I actually stayed Downtown. Pretty cool place when you actually get out and walk around at the human scale.

Haven't been able to tell but does that overlook change colors? I am sure it would be easy for LED, but I have only seen it purple.
I just a quick google image search and it appears that it is different colors, but I just haven't seen it is person.

Yep, it cycles through quite a few colors gradually.skinzfan23 wrote: Thu May 02, 2024 1:41 pm Haven't been able to tell but does that overlook change colors? I am sure it would be easy for LED, but I have only seen it purple.

Re: Skyline Downtown Omaha
Nice pics, especially that nice train Pic with the farnam pier shining onto the BNSF train below
I love visiting these parks frequently since I'm from midtown, I even work remotely from time to time in the park and the free open "Riverfront" wifi makes it convenient.
I have a friend (Chicago native) with his girlfriend coming from out of state to celebrate their one year anniversary for a 3 day stay in Omaha, this weekend. Last time he came was when only GLM was open, he really liked how Omaha is clean, no rodents running, not filled with homeless, safe and how charming Omaha is.
Don't worry guys, I made sure to give him a very detailed map, with efficient routes and lists of things to do. As well as to sneak in a few promotions on the projects pending and what's to come and how well Omaha is being run.

I love both! Such great pieces of artwork.
Just look at the cool hues of the Bob Kerry bridge, paired with the cool tones of the mirror like Missouri river and the lower half of the photo.
Followed by the contrasting warm tones of the sunset lit sky.

Love the view from that area, just wish that USPS didn't occupy all that space.

On my last night in Omaha—at the end of an amazing and fruitful two-week research and location scouting trip throughout the state of Nebraska that I love so much—the city threw a farewell love fest sunset for me as I shot this with the Missouri River at my back and Heartland of America lake and park and Downtown in front of me. GOD, HOW I LOVE THIS CITY!!! -- Photo by Chris Norden, September 5, 2018, 8PM

Re: Skyline Downtown Omaha
I absolutely agree. I've thought since the '90s that that spot upon which the USPS sits is THE single most spectacular location in Omaha for view-oriented hotel/residential/retail development. It's the only elevated view area right next to Downtown. It's a huge missed opportunity in its current iteration. But with the right investors and planning that maximizes views for all tenants as well as all parcels to the direct south of it (across Pacific), this could be Omaha's next "IT" neighborhood.skinzfan23 wrote: Mon Jun 17, 2024 9:48 am Love the view from that area, just wish that USPS didn't occupy all that space.

12sec exposure with a drone?? I don't know enough about modern drone stability to completely call BS, but that is quite the claim.

I don't think its the drone staying stable, I would believe its more of an in camara software stabilization. Seems like a lot of the new cameras today had really good software for stabilization.almighty_tuna wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 1:00 pm 12sec exposure with a drone?? For what it's worth, I've spoken with him a few times at events at the Hoff center in cb, and he seems to be a really straight forward guy. He also has some of my fav images of the 'Bluffs, and explained how he managed to capture them. I'd say it's likely legitimate, but I'm only basing it off my interactions...and zero photography ability!almighty_tuna wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 1:00 pm 12sec exposure with a drone??
