Does anyone think it would be worth it to go towards the north end of highway 31 around highway 30?

According to Dark Site Finder, it's still the 5th brightest (orange - which isn't great) with yellow just a bit further north.

I’d maybe head east into southwest IA for the least light pollution you’ll probably find somewhat close to here (depending on how far you want to go) based on this anyway - https://www.lightpollutionmap.info/#zoo ... kiOjg1fQ==

My thought was to head north/east on HWY 30 up east of MO Valley and find a taller bluff to go up. I figure up north you at least wont have Omaha's light to contend with. Not sure if it's better to be up high or down low? Also not sure if it'll be worth it.

Yeah it was. Went up north of the end of highway 31 and there were a fair number of people parked along the road. Got some amazing pics I'll post later. After 1, it was really popping off and was an amazing light show all around the sky. I did not expect it to be so vibrant and right overhead. It was sort of like a bunch of spotlights strobing through the sky.

I took a shot in the dark, felt really meh about it. Drove straight up 72nd until it ends, was surprised to see dozens of vehicles parked up there on the dirt road. Saw nothing with the naked eye, took a photo with a little bit of pink. Cool to see with the help of a camera, sure but not worth chasing.

I was all over Southern Washington county tonight. cars and people everywhere! Every random gravel road had at least 1 car on it.

I definitely was surprised to see that many people out there. I went up to 133 and 36, went east to 72nd and north from there. The gravel road I was on, the whole area was so dusty I could barely see. I didn't think it was going to be that big a deal lol.

The last one I went north of DeSoto Bend and it was the same way. People everywhere. Last time I ran in to 5 people I knew on gravel roads. Today, only 1. Still weird to be in the pitch black and someone say "Brad Williams???"
