The 1,200-foot bike track will cover about 3.5 acres and cost about $15,000 to $20,000 to build, said David Griswold, president of the Southwest Iowa Amateur Cycling Club.
The track, which will feature various jumps, will allow Omaha to host national BMX events, Griswold said. BMX, an abbreviation for bicycle motocross, features races on hilly dirt tracks.
As for the dog park, apparently dog park advocates have turned to Hefflinger over Tranquility, since there is already quite a bit of fencing in place. The group has money available to complete the fencing of what will amount to a 7-acre dog area. They hope to have it ready for use within a couple of months.
Looks like I’m going to have to go get a bike, this thing looks like a blast! I’ve seen 8 year old girls do back flips at the skate park I can’t wait to see what kids can do on this.

I saw a follow up on this story last night on Channel 6. Can ya help the children please?....The people who are trying to make the BMX park could use any assistance they can get to get the thing built. Apparently, they are up against a deadline to get the dirt moved that will be used to make the track. They would appreciate any assistance they can get. Just wanted to put this out there on their behalf on the chance there might be some forumers who might be willing to donate time, equipment, trucks etc. to give 'em a hand.
