Yeah the streetcar coming over here would be ideal, especially if the Union Omaha development comes to fruition.skinzfan23 wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:49 amI agree 100%!Brad wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:07 am It could actually be a great turnaround spot. Some walkability improvements between the Union stadium plot and Millwork (and North DT as well) would be helpful too.Greg S wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 10:25 amYeah the streetcar coming over here would be ideal, especially if the Union Omaha development comes to fruition.skinzfan23 wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:49 amI agree 100%!Brad wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:07 am It could actually be a great turnaround spot. If it’s just a continuation of the existing line this would be great, but if it’s an independent line I think aiming to serve more of North Omaha would be betterBrad wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:07 amIt could actually be a great turnaround spot. The hotel will go in the older brick building surrounded by the Dizzy Mule. 135 rooms. The Frame Apts will be 149 units on the NW corner of 13th and Nicholas.

I'm glad to see they've minimized the blank wall space on the first floor of The Frame apartments. Too often the exterior first floor is an afterthought on new urban apartments.

Pretty good incorporation of the historic structures into this complex. Could be a bit better, particularly with materials used, but that’s just me being nitpicky.

Very nice picture angles, that encapsulate the Millwork Commons Well, thanks!
This area will come alive in no time, I just hope there are better plans for pedestrian accessibility while crossing Cuming Street, it can be overwhelming at times to cross Cuming
I wonder if there are pending plans for construction on the empty east lot.

Re: Millwork Commons
I couldn't help but take a picture of this new mural tucked in this gap at Millwork Commons.
Quite a creative use for a nice public art mural. Looks better in person.

As for the other side of the Millwork Commons, where that art studio is, maybe they should improve the art quality of those metal sculptures; that area can look like an urban junk yard and you don't see people taking pictures or admiring those sculptures.
Other than that, I love how Millwork Commons is unfolding.
Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture and Black Dog are doing a great job in giving Millwork Commons an authentic traditional Omaha look.

This walkway is shaping up well.

Re: Millwork Commons
Nice article from SPN about a growing tech company right here in Omaha. Portion I pulled is relevant to the Ashton.
Workshop surpasses 100 employees as it nears five-year anniversary
Workshop surpasses 100 employees as it nears five-year anniversary
In a breakdown provided by Workshop, the expansion work on the company’s Millwork Commons headquarters will begin in January. The project will add 14,500 square feet to the existing 10,000-square-foot office in the Ashton building, including nine conference rooms, 10 call rooms and 156 workstations.
The Dublin office is located in a local coworking hub and opened for the first two hires back in September. Workshop plans to officially launch the office in 2026, with the space having the potential to accommodate four to eight people initially and the ability to expand.

Came Across These renderings for the new Millwork Hotel! I would imagine work will begin soon on this.
I also saw on Grow Omaha that the first tenant will be new bar called The Academy in the Nova apartment building, I wonder if thats going to take the place of the Cap Brewing Company from Baton Rouge that was originally announced as the first tenant for that location?
KMR sushi has officially opened!
